In Hollow Knight: Silksong, much like the initial game, players will encounter numerous merchants. Many of these characters are unique and exclusive, while others make a return to offer their goods. Some of these shopkeepers are standout figures in video gaming, whereas others may not leave as strong an impression. The primary currency is Rosaries, though Shell Shards can also be utilized for quests or certain transactions.
Initially, it might appear that Rosaries are scarce treasures hidden throughout the world in Hollow Knight: Silksong. However, it won’t take long for players to discover they can fairly effortlessly obtain them from specific creatures. While farming spots are abundant, it’s essential to be cautious about how you use your hard-earned Rosaries.
Maps
Find Your Way Around Pharloom More Easily
As a dedicated fan, I’d express it like this: “In the enchanting world of Hollow Knight: Silksong, I’ve come to know Shakra, a towering bug with an extraordinary knack for manipulating rings. Should you notice ring-like patterns in your surroundings, she’s never far away. Initially, she can be found nestled within The Marrow, but each subsequent biome – from the Hunter’s March to the Deep Docks, the Far Fields, and beyond – presents a unique landscape.
Additionally to maps, accessories such as the Quill and map icons like the Bench Rest could be beneficial. The Quill would allow for annotations or personal notes, while the Bench Rest might serve as a marker for specific locations. On the other hand, random tokens such as the Shell Marker may not be necessary because players can manage their own notes more efficiently. For instance, they could take screenshots of inaccessible areas, like doors or gaps, to keep track of important locations.
Tools
Arm Hornet With a Little Extra Sting

In Hornet’s case, her primary weapon is a long stinger, which players typically won’t get to interact with for much of the game. However, as they progress, they can purchase additional tools that act as secondary weapons, similar to other Metroidvania games. For instance, one such tool, known as the Sting Shard, can be obtained from Forge Daughter’s shop in Deep Docks. This device functions as a trap; when deployed, it causes spikes to shoot across the room.
Traps will rejuvenate when players take a break at a resting spot, given they possess adequate Shell Shards. Tools may not inflict significant damage on bosses, but they are particularly useful for managing crowds of monsters. In the game Hollow Knight: Silksong, most Tools can be discovered or earned via side quests. However, if a Tool appears in a store, regardless of its high cost, players should consider purchasing it.
Trinkets
Dress to Kill
Knickknacks can provide Hornet with an added advantage during battles or expeditions. Similar to Tools, they need to be placed on benches before use and offer a variety of effects. These effects may be unique in their application, but they are always worth buying. For instance, Pebb from Bone Bottom owns the Magnetite Brooch, which swiftly gathers Rosaries. Shakra will always have the Compass on hand until players purchase it, which reveals Hornet’s precise location on the map.
In the absence of these trinkets, maps may not be very helpful (except for those players who are exceptionally adept at interpreting Metroidvania map designs). For instance, The Forge Daughter in Deep Docks possesses the Magma Bell, a tool that’s only beneficial within Deep Docks, enabling players to traverse certain lava-covered floors for a limited period. Similarly, Mort in Far Fields carries the Weighted Belt, an item that prevents Hornet from being pushed during combat, thus providing a strategic advantage. Such trinkets can prove to be quite valuable for players as they navigate their way through the game.
Stat Boosts
Restore Hornet to Full Strength
In the game Hollow Knight: Silksong, it’s challenging to significantly improve Hornet’s abilities due to limited methods, keeping the gameplay difficult, much like a Metroidvania. Consequently, any enhancement to Hornet’s stats or equipment can drastically alter a player’s experience. In Bone Bottom, Pebb holds one Mask Shard, and collecting four of these will increase Hornet’s health. This health system bears resemblance to those found in Zelda games, where Link collects Heart Pieces to earn an additional heart for his health. However, unlike Zelda games, the number of Mask Shards in Hollow Knight: Silksong is relatively scarce, making them highly valuable.
Advancing to Deep Docks, Forge Daughter equips a Crafting Kit that subtly boosts the efficiency of tools in Hollow Knight: Silksong. Lastly, Mort residing in Far Fields possesses two valuable items that bolster Hornet’s abilities. The Tool Pouch amplifies the ammo capacity for tools and allows players to carry an additional 100 Shell Shards. The Memory Locket plays a crucial role as it unlocks nodes in Crests, with most Crests in Silksong starting with one tool slot and one slot each for blue and yellow trinkets, summing up to three. Memory Lockets can unlock an extra node for each of these categories, providing players with six slots to customize their setup.
Rare Items
You Never Know When Something Will Come in Handy
Silksong’, Pebb is the sole example found once more in Bone Bottom. He possesses Craftmetal, a unique form of currency that’s useful for certain trading systems.
In Hollow Knight: Silksong, his most precious item is known as the ‘Simple Key’, which serves to unveil secret locations nestled within pre-existing environments. For instance, the Simple Key allows players entry into a tougher section of Deep Docks. Whenever you stumble upon doors that require Simple Keys, remember to document them using the screenshot technique. This trick is an invaluable aid for exploring any Metroidvania game.
