The Sims 4
.
As a longtime fan of The Sims series, I must say that these lots in Ravenwood are nothing short of breathtaking! Each one offers a unique twist on life and death, making them truly unforgettable experiences within The Sims 4’s Life & Death expansion pack.
The expansion called “Life & Death” infuses a chilling allure into the realm of Ravenwood, offering an array of fresh, spine-tingling lots. These constructions vary from cozy family dwellings to ominous public areas, each contributing to the neighborhood’s enigmatic ambiance in its own way. The ranking of every lot has been done considering factors like design layout, landscaping, efficient use of space, and how seamlessly it aligns with Ravenwood’s macabre motif.
Top-tier designs encompass intricate, immersive elements and practical arrangements, whereas less remarkable options may present voids and lack definition. Regardless if Sims are in search of a quaint hideaway or a grand manor, this compilation serves as a navigational tool for players, directing them to the most exceptional locales – and those that might be more suited for ghostly inhabitants.
12 Mystic Crossroads
An Eerie Haven For The Solitary Soul
- Neighborhood: Mourningvale
- Lot Size: 30 x 30
- Lot Type: Residential
At the Mystic Crossroads lot nestled within Ravenwood’s Mourningvale neighborhood, you’ll find an eerily captivating ambiance with its panoramic view of a foggy lake and the ruins of a decaying castle. This remote location is perfect for individuals seeking tranquility or looking to secure the Private Dwelling attribute for maintaining privacy from intruders.
As a devoted fan, I must confess that Mystic Crossroads falls short among the lots of Ravenwood, despite its captivating surroundings. Compared to other lots, its diminutive size restricts the possibilities for intricate designs. Furthermore, as an empty parcel, it lacks the distinctive structures or elements that would make it stand out from its peers in Ravenwood. This scarcity of features makes it less enticing for players who yearn for more fully-developed or versatile lots within Ravenwood.
11 Hay Hill Landing
A Countryside Escape Amid Ravenwood’s Gloom
- Neighborhood: Whispering Glenn
- Lot Size: 64 x 64
- Lot Type: Residential
The expansive Hay Hill Landing property presents a delightful change from the customary spooky charm of Ravenwood. Nestled among rolling countryside and serene rural surroundings, this property is an excellent choice for Sims seeking a tranquil existence away from the unsettling aspects of nearby districts. Its ample size suits grand mansions or farmhouses exceptionally well, particularly for players who are fond of the styles and motifs featured in the Horse Ranch and Country Living expansions.
At Hay Hill Landing, there’s not much to work with initially as it doesn’t have a solid base for construction. Despite boasting picturesque scenery and advantageous lot characteristics like Natural Light and Homey, which are great for cultivating creative and domestic abilities, players may find themselves having to put in a substantial amount of effort and resources into custom building to make the most out of this property.
10 Crow’s Perch
The House No Sim (Living or Dead) Would Want To Live In
- Neighborhood: Crow’s Crossing
- Lot Size: 30 x 30
- Lot Type: Residential
The initial property on the list offers a pre-constructed dwelling, but its architecture may leave one puzzled as to why effort was invested. However, it’s unlikely that any spectral inhabitants are causing concern – neither living nor deceased Sims would consider this place suitable for residence. The construction appears dull and sparse, with an abundance of empty space in the entrance and dining areas, and bedrooms containing only basic necessities such as a bed and wardrobe.
11th out of 13 in my gaming rankings, Crow’s Perch falls short on both functionality and aesthetics. Instead of having a bottom bunk or desk under the top one, it’s just empty space – not ideal for a gamer like me. And don’t get me started on that toddler bedroom! A table is haphazardly placed, making it difficult to even reach the bed. To make matters worse, there’s this creepy Grimtern plushie glaring at me from across the tiny room, adding an unwanted horror element. All in all, Crow’s Perch feels more like a hastily thrown-together level than a real gaming den.
9 Moppy Manor
A Starter Home In Need Of A Fresh Start
- Neighborhood: Crow’s Crossing
- Lot Size: 30 x 20
- Lot Type: Residential
Moppy Manor exhibits the typical layout of an early EA residence, hinting at incompleteness and yearning for a splash of individuality. Despite being one of the tiniest plots in Ravenwood, the interior feels overly compact, with a design that fails to optimize its meager space. The minimalist décor and absence of greenery make the dwelling appear unwelcoming and monotonous.
Placed lower down the list, Moppy Manor offers possibilities for Sims prepared to renovate and enhance its interior design. With some landscape adjustments and careful planning, this property could be turned into a comfortable abode for a small family – however, at present, it lacks in both practicality and appeal.
8 The Cozy Casket House
Haunting Aesthetics With Room For Improvement
- Neighborhood: Mourningvale
- Lot Size: 30 x 20
- Lot Type: Residential
As a fanatic of all things macabre, I can’t help but be drawn to The Cozy Casket House in Ravenwood, where the Baleful Bog, a site for out-of-body journeys and spiritual rebirth, provides an appropriately chilling view. The dead trees that line the property exude a ghostly allure, adding an extra dash of eeriness.
Regardless of its haunting surroundings, the house itself appears incomplete and lacks practical layout. The casket room, while adding an eerie ambiance, seems incongruous within a home and serves no obvious purpose. Although the property effectively portrays a spooky atmosphere, it falls short due to being bland and uninspiring, with rooms that could greatly benefit from better design and functionality.
7 Old Ravenwood Estate
A Grand Yet Gloomy Manor, With Room To Grow
- Neighborhood: Crow’s Crossing
- Lot Size: 50 x 50
- Lot Type: Residential
Showcased during the Life & Death extension live broadcast, the Old Ravenwood Estate proudly upholds its legacy as a grand manor, boasting six bedrooms and seven bathrooms. This property comes equipped with a distinctive greenhouse that could use some decorative touches, a spooky backyard cemetery to enhance the mood, and a serene upper-level area adorned with benches and an easel offering breathtaking views of Crow’s Crossing.
As a devoted admirer, I must admit that this magnificent manor holds an eighth place in my heart, yet its true potential remains untapped. The design on the first floor presents vast expanses of empty space, which leaves the entrance, living room, and bathroom feeling strikingly bare. The kitchen, despite being ample, seems strangely devoid, with countertops yearning for appliances or a touch of clutter to breathe life into it. Although this estate exudes the enigmatic charm of an old, mystical manor, it falls short in providing a fully furnished and immersive experience.
6 Club Eternity
Where The Party Never Dies (But The Vibes Might Need A Boost)
- Neighborhood: Mourningvale
- Lot Size: 30 x 30
- Lot Type: Nightclub
At Club Eternity, everyone feels like family, which is our guiding principle. It provides a place for both living and spectral Sims to let loose without judgment, immersed in the mysterious charm of Ravenwood. The dim yet dramatic lighting, featuring a candlelit chandelier and floor lamps, creates an eerie ambiance. The club’s proximity to the Baleful Bog and Bell Tower adds a haunting backdrop to the festivities, enhancing the night’s spooky atmosphere.
As a gamer, I’ve got to admit, Club Eternity seems to be promising a thrilling nightclub experience. However, the subtle décor and minimal layout make it feel more like a tranquil lounge than a pulsating club. Adding some DJ booths and dance floors from the ‘Get Together’ pack, or even a spooky seance table like in the ‘Paranormal’ expansion, could help bring out the supernatural nightlife it aspires to create. But for now, it’s more of a subdued hideout that doesn’t quite match its “Eternity” moniker.
5 Mourning Mist Manor
A Cozy Ghostly Getaway With Garden Charm
- Neighborhood: Mourningvale
- Lot Size: 20 x 20
- Lot Type: Residential
Stepping into Mourning Mist Manor, I find myself enveloped in a delightful contrast to Ravenwood’s usual somber palette. Vibrant splashes of blues and greens breathe life into its beautifully designed 20 x 20 layout. The attached greenhouse, perfect for sipping tea or socializing, exudes an inviting vibe. The planters brimming with flourishing foliage and meticulously maintained gardens echo the property’s gardening motif, infusing it with a surprisingly lively ambiance.
As a fervent admirer, I find myself residing near the enigmatic Izadi-Gomes duo’s abode – once unfortunate victims of the Cowplant calamity and now collectors of souls. This manor embodies an alluring blend of haunting charm and refined aesthetics.
4 The Marigold Chateau
A Blooming Gem In Ravenwood
- Neighborhood: Whispering Glen
- Lot Size: 50 x 50
- Lot Type: Residential
Marigold Chateau is one of the most refined houses in Ravenwood, distinguished by its impressive exterior adorned with rocky pathways, a tranquil fountain, and lush greenery that creates a warm atmosphere. Inside, the design boasts an efficient layout, free from the empty space problems typical of other properties. The kitchen is uncomplicated yet tastefully designed, although it could benefit from adding a couple of barstools to the island, making it even more inviting.
The interior design could benefit from some variety in wallpaper and flooring, especially on the main level, where the uniformity dampens the home’s charm. The attic, with only a chest and a bench, feels like an afterthought. With some creative touches, it could transform into a spooky attic or a hidden storage space, making this elegant chateau an even richer and more intriguing place to call home.
Teardrop Cottage
A Dark Yet Charming Countryside Retreat
- Neighborhood: Whispering Glen
- Lot Size: 30 x 30
- Lot Type: Residential
Teardrop Cottage
combines the rustic, rural charm of its countryside neighborhood with the haunting color palette of the
Life & Death
expansion. This cozy lot maximizes its small kitchen with smart storage and decor, and the backyard is a welcoming space with good use of
terrain and platform tools
for both the garden and the swing areas.
The garden surrounding the cottage is meticulously designed, boasting an artful arrangement of plants, stones, and trees that inject color into its subdued scheme. The exquisite architecture of the roof, with its intricate patterns, clearly demonstrates careful craftsmanship. This cottage, equipped with traits like Excellent Sound Quality and Fresh Air, would make an ideal home for musicians or fitness enthusiasts – albeit it seems lacking in essential tools such as musical instruments or workout equipment. Maybe transforming the study room could accommodate a keyboard or violin?
3 The Final Draught
Pouring Out Comfort In A Chilling Ambiance
- Neighborhood: Whispering Glen
- Lot Size: 30 x 30
- Lot Type: Bar
Ravenwood’s watering hole, known as “The Final Draught“, consistently attracts its faithful patrons due to its softly lit interior, inviting seating arrangements, and soothing melodies from the jukebox that perfectly capture the charm of a quaint town tavern. The skillfully designed bar and tasteful decorative elements contribute to the establishment’s ability to evoke the warm, intimate feeling of a beloved local hangout.
The bar’s second floor is a unique feature, offering a private event space ideal for wakes and funerals, though it could use extra seating to make the coffee station feel more complete. The patio is great for socializing, and could also benefit from a few extra tables, chairs, and an outdoor music setup. Its thoughtful design and charm justify its top ranking as a spot for Sims to raise a glass to life — and beyond.
2 Eternal Hollow
A Resting Place For The Many Departed
- Neighborhood: Crow’s Crossing
- Lot Size: 64 x 64
- Lot Type: Cemetery
In The Sims 4, Eternal Hollow stands out as a top-notch cemetery option, boasting an expansive 64 x 64 plot that’s ideal for Sims with a growing roster of departed loved ones. This versatile lot accommodates various burial methods, from graves and plots to urns, making it a valuable resource for players navigating legacy challenges or amassing tombstones over time.
Crafted with thoughts of solitude and remembrance, Eternal Hollow offers tranquil spots such as a pond, picnic area, and gazebo for Sims to quietly grieve or ponder. The property doesn’t avoid the mysterious ambiance, boasting a self-moving haunted swing set that subtly hints at the ghostly presence still lingering in Ravenwood. While it can serve as a funeral venue, its capacity could be improved by adding more seating, as four chairs might not comfortably accommodate most wakes or ceremonies.
1 Specter Family Manor
A Killer Legacy Lives On
- Neighborhood: Crow’s Crossing
- Lot Size: 30 x 20
- Lot Type: Residential
Despite being relatively small at 30 x 20 square feet, the Specter Family Manor takes the lead with its ingenious layout and skillful utilization of space. Every nook brims with life – or death – for The Sims 4. The living room and kitchen are tastefully decorated with harmonious color palettes, while the messy and well-appointed bedrooms give an authentic lived-in feel. The alluring hexagonal roof adds a touch of architectural elegance, making the exterior as captivating as its rich history.
In this ominous neighborhood dwells the notorious Specter clan, who first emerged with the eerie tales from The Sims 2. Olive Specter’s house of dread once boasted an unusual collection of cryptic tombstones, sparking rumors of ill deeds. In The Sims 4, however, she appears more youthful – yet no less enigmatic. A haunting basement suggests a place where Sims can vanish without a hint. With careful attention to detail, creepy atmosphere, and subtle references to the past of Sims, this property earns its reputation as the most chilling and skillfully designed lot in the Life & Death expansion pack.
