This is because the team focuses on dealing damage over time using Poison, primarily from Prune Juice and Black Sapphire. Since Poison isn’t direct damage, the boss won’t retaliate with its passive ability while your team is attacking.
Candy Apple protects your team, strengthens their Poison attacks, and weakens the boss, making it easier to inflict significant damage since the boss has high defense. When paired with Black Sapphire, she activates Shadow Milk’s Deceitful Trio ability, further boosting the effectiveness of a Poison-based team.
Okay, so I usually run Dark Cacao as my tank. The boss tends to target the cookies in the front, so he’s likely to take a beating, but he’s totally worth it! Rebel Cookie, though dealing direct damage, is a strong teammate because he can lead the charge, significantly weaken the boss’s defenses (by up to 315.4%), and boost his allies’ health and attack power with shields and critical hit buffs.
