This will be the fastest way to level it up so long as they are using the highest caliber of healing spell. This can also be used to drain health from enemies to keep damaging them while also healing up. At higher levels, this can clear away any diseases and other conditions players may incur. |
| Alteration | Before charging into the faces of foes with touch-range Destruction spells, players can use Alteration spells to give themselves a defensive buff. This can help them overcome any and all elemental attacks against their physical armor. This can also be used to increase one’s carrying capacity and replace the Security skill when it comes to opening locked doors and chests. If players did not choose an Argonian, they can use this to breathe underwater. Using it for all of these features will see it gaining levels quite rapidly. |
| Conjuration | Players can use this to summon a Bound Weapon. However, fighting with these weapons will give them levels in those weapons’ chosen skills. This can help them pick up some levels in Blade, Blunt, and Marksman. However, players do not need these skills. Instead, they should focus on using this to pull out a summoned creature to fight alongside them in battle. This can help them increase their damage output in every fight they get into. Players can also spam this while traveling to constantly gain experience in the skill. |
| Mysticism | Mysticism has some really useful spells outside of combat. Detect Life can reveal enemies in other rooms while delving into dungeons, preventing them from ever getting the jump on players. Using it this way will help it shoot up in levels. Players should also use this for the Soul Trap spell to fill up their Soul Gems. Its best uses are reflecting damage and spells right back at the player’s attackers. |
| Alchemy | Spells are expensive, but luckily, Sorcerers can make a lot of money using Alchemy. Players will find plenty of materials as they progress through the game. Some in nature and some stashed away. Use these to make potions and poisons to sell. This gives levels in Alchemy and Mercantile to see faster level-ups, and keep your pockets overflowing with gold. |
Favored Attributes
Mages tend to prioritize Intelligence and Willpower, allowing them to reach greater Magicka levels quickly and recover it faster. Conversely, Sorcerers focus on Intelligence and Stamina, with the latter being crucial as they require both high health and heavy armor to withstand the attacks of their foes.
Leveling Up Attributes for Sorcerers
As a gamer, I’d personally choose to allocate 5 points into Intelligence and Endurance with every level-up, as these attributes significantly boost my character’s mental capabilities and physical resilience respectively. Any leftover points can be invested in Willpower, which still aids in Magicka recovery. However, should my Magicka regeneration rate be less than ideal, I can easily make up for it by honing my Alchemy skills to concoct potions that augment my Magicka reserves.
Skip adding potions to your quick-access bar. Instead, take a moment to bring up the game’s menu to pause it, which allows you to safely apply potions without enemies taking advantage during your recovery process.

- Imperial
In many races, two attributes hold a score of 50 each, yet Sorcerers do not fall into this category. High Elves possess an Intelligence rating of 50 and Endurance of 40, but they are fragile because they lack resistance to fire, ice, and shock magic.
For Sorcerers, an Imperial character is highly recommended as it offers additional abilities that aren’t typically prioritized in active skill development: Mercantile and Speechcraft. This enables players to accumulate extra gold and information early in the game. Additionally, they receive a bonus for Heavy Armor, and the Voice of the Emperor ability can be used to enhance a target’s disposition, making it easier to access certain areas of the game that might otherwise require higher standing.

For sorcerers deeply engaged in Alchemy, or those who exploit the duplication trick, there’s always an abundance of potions to replenish their Magicka, enabling them to adopt the Atronach Birthsign. This signet hinders Magicka regeneration but grants an additional 150 Magicka points. In this scenario, players can swiftly decimate their targets and replenish their Magicka using potions as necessary.
The Atronarch Symbol grants a 50% likelihood of deflecting spells back onto casters, potentially making spell-using foes vulnerable when facing you.
