As a seasoned Valorant player with countless hours under my belt, I can confidently say that the balance changes have indeed shaken things up, but they haven’t dampened the strategic impact of Viper’s Pit. It still remains a formidable tool in the hands of a skilled player.
In the bustling field of tactical first-person shooter games, Riot Games’ Valorant stands out due to its extensive roster of character skills that significantly influence gameplay. Each agent possesses a set of signature abilities and one powerful Ultimate, which exceeds their other powers and serves as the defining feature of their repertoire.
In the game Valorant, special abilities have the power to significantly swing a match in favor of either team, potentially deciding the outcome of an entire round. However, not all abilities are equally potent; some stand out as exceptionally powerful and even border on being overpowered. It’s crucial for players to be aware of which ones are considered top-tier.
It’s likely that the Chamber character serves as a good illustration of meta changes in Valorant. Originally regarded as the top Sentinel agent in the game, his abilities have been significantly weakened recently. Despite the fact that his ultimate ability remains powerful and unmatched in Valorant, he is no longer considered the best Sentinel or even the best overall agent in the game.
13 Tour De Force (Chamber)

Despite Chamber’s abilities being weakened across the board, Tour De Force maintained a significant power level in subsequent updates, making it the most formidable ultimate move that Operators can possess in Valorant.
Beyond the point that Tour De Force is an exceptional Operator due to its faster firing rate and the lingering movement penalty it inflicts on the target’s teammates following each kill, it’s also a significant cost-saver for Chamber players, as they can skip weapon purchases in rounds where they possess Tour De Force. For marksmen, a mere five shots are often sufficient to secure multiple kills consecutively. In the least favorable situations, a budget-friendly SMG like Stinger can be carried for close combat encounters.
12 Resurrection (Sage)
Able To Revive A Dead Ally
Among our top support characters, Sage stands out with an extraordinary talent – the Ultimate power to revive fallen comrades and fully heal them, putting them back in action precisely when it matters most.
1. Her Ultimate has a huge impact on a match, turning potentially losing 1v1 situations into favorable 2v1 ones. This small difference between winning and losing is crucial. When paired with her Barrier Orb, Sage can shield the teammates she revives, offering them protection during the duration of her Ultimate’s animation. The importance of each kill makes her Resurrection powerful when used strategically, which explains why it comes at a high cost.
11 Not Dead Yet (Clove)
A Limited Self-Revive Ability That Can Turn Permanent After Scoring A Kill
While Sage cannot resurrect herself but can bring back other players once she touches their lifeless forms, Clove possesses the unique capability of resurrecting herself shortly following her own demise, provided her special ability is activated. Yet, this powerful talent comes with an intriguing caveat.
After the gamer triggers Clove’s final ability, she transforms into a spirit, granting her a short period to find a secure location for respawning. From this point, the player is given a fresh timer, and their objective is to eliminate an opponent before the countdown ends, or else Clove will perish once more.
10 Hunter’s Fury (Sova)
Shoots Three Powerful Arrows Through Walls That Reveal Enemy Location On Hit
Sova’s Hunter’s Fury is a multifunctional ultimate ability. Its purpose is to supply information, manage the battlefield, and take down opponents.
When activated, Sova’s arsenal includes three powerful long-range projectiles that can pierce walls and inflict 80 points of damage per strike on any adversaries in their path. Furthermore, the impact sites of these energy blasts are exposed, helping Sova to precisely target enemies for a follow-up strike. This skill is crucial during post-plant scenarios as it enables Sova to delay or prevent enemy defusers from dismantling the bomb from a secure position.
9 Overdrive (Neon)
Shoots Recoil-Free Laser Beam From Her Fingers
Regarding mobility and combat capabilities, Neon and Jett stand out as top-tier Agents. It’s challenging to counter them effectively due to their powerful abilities. In terms of Ultimates, Jett hurls daggers, while Neon fires a laser beam. The laser beam has a faster rate of fire, which benefits players with average aiming skills more.
One way to rephrase this in natural and easy-to-read language: “Neon’s ability to speed up quickly with Overdrive activation adds to her agility during laser shooting, as the laser has no kickback. Just like Jett’s daggers, Neon’s laser remains active for a short duration, but when her energy runs out, it automatically shuts off.”
8 Orbital Strike (Brimstone)

Brimstone’s Ultimate Ability, Orbital Strike, is an extremely effective method for restricting map control and compelling opponents to adjust their positions. The sustained harm can easily eradicate any player unfortunate enough to be within its vicinity.
Orbital Strike is beneficial for preventing spike plants and eliminating defenders from congested spots like Lamps on Bind. It also serves as a strong counter against opponents’ Ultimates, effectively nullifying threats such as Killjoy’s Lockdown and tilting the battlefield in your team’s advantage.
7 Seekers (Skye)
Three Seekers Follow Multiple Enemies To Concuss Them
From a dedicated fan’s perspective, I can confidently say that I admire Skye for her exceptional strength as an Initiator agent. Her arsenal is impressively diverse, and her adaptable skills enable her to excel at information gathering and setting up strategic battles that significantly benefit her team.
When the heat is on and we’re running low on intel during intense battles, my Ultimate, Seekers, becomes an absolute game-changer. I unleash a trio of these guys who zero in on the three nearest opponents, exposing their positions. If they survive, these seekers make it impossible for those agents to hide effectively – they’re basically beacons that enemy players can’t ignore. This puts us at an advantage in high-speed skirmishes, as our enemies have no choice but to shift their focus towards the seekers, giving my team the upper hand.
6 Showstopper (Raze)
A Rocket Launcher With Large AOE That Can One-Shot Enemies
Raze’s ultimate move, titled “Showstopper,” is a powerful rocket that unleashes immense destruction within its vicinity. This ultimate ability enhances Raze’s arsenal of explosives by inflicting massive damage to surrounding areas.
To achieve optimal results, players often employ the rocket weapon in narrow passages where adversaries tend to congregate, since a strategically thrown rocket can potentially wipe out an entire team. It’s a skill-intensive move that offers both significant rewards and risks, demanding precision and timing. Even when it fails to result in a kill, its devastating blast damage grants valuable control over the map as enemies scatter in response.
5 Viper’s Pit (Viper)
Creates A Large Poisonous Smoke That Gradually Lowers HP Down To 1
Viper’s Pit is among the most powerful abilities in the game. Upon activation, it releases a harmful gas fog that expands across a large portion of the map. This gas can cover whole strategic locations and critical points, potentially causing suffocation.
Within Viper’s Pit, enemies experience nearsightedness and loss of access to their mini-map. What’s more, their health diminishes swiftly, dwindling to a mere 1 HP, rendering them vulnerable to easy takedowns. While recent balancing nerfs have reduced the duration Viper can leave her deadly Pit before it deactivates, its strategic impact remains influential.
4 Blade Storm (Jett)
Shoots Five Recoil-Free Daggers That Fully Reload Upon Scoring A Kill
In the game, Jett’s Blade Storm Ultimate provides her with a collection of five precision-crafted throwing knives. No matter how she moves, these knives maintain their accuracy. She has the option to use them one by one, with each kill recharging them, or to launch them simultaneously.
In situations where Jett’s team is struggling financially and has inferior weapons, her Ultimate, Blade Storm, becomes exceptionally potent. Her daggers can even out the match and possibly acquire abandoned enemy equipment as a bonus. Among all Valorant abilities, Blade Storm demands the highest level of accuracy and aiming proficiency, but when skillfully used, it proves to be a force to reckon with.
3 NULL/cmd (KAY/O)
Creates A Large Radius That Prevents Any Enemy From Using Their Abilities
When activated, KAY/O’s Ultimate releases a substantial Suppression wave originating from his location, making it impossible for any adversaries within its range to utilize their special abilities. Since Valorant‘s gameplay heavily relies on these unique skills, KAY/O’s Ultimate can dramatically alter the game, making Valorant feel more like a conventional tactical First-Person Shooter for the enemy team.
If KAY/O is eliminated during his Ultimate ability, he doesn’t die but instead gets knocked out. His team can then revive him. Furthermore, when downed, he receives the Combat Stim buff, making this Ultimate incredibly effective for pushing or reclaiming sites. Although it might not be as spectacular as other Ultimates, NULL/cmd is still one of the most influential abilities in the game.
2 Lockdown (Killjoy)

Killjoy consistently stands out as a top choice for players, thanks to her versatile toolkit that makes her one of the most effective Sentinel agents. Her powerful Ultimate skill, Lockdown, is a key factor in this success.
When activated, Lockdown expands a massive, encompassing sphere over time, trapping any adversaries caught within its vicinity for a short while. As players are ensnared, they become largely stationary, making them susceptible to attack and preventing them from planting or defusing objects. This powerful Ultimate ability, utilized by Killjoy’s squad, can lead to significant kills, defuse the bomb, or prompt strategic rotations, potentially determining the outcome of a match.
1 Rolling Thunder (Breach)
Sends An Earthquake Wave That Concusses And Slows Down Anyone Affected
Breach’s equipment is built for interfering with and hindering opponents, and nothing accomplishes this quite like his ultimate ability, Rolling Thunder. This powerful skill serves as an exceptional tool for controlling crowds, but it works best when used in conjunction with good teamwork and communication.
In Rolling Thunder’s use, a powerful shockwave radiates outwards, encompassing numerous explosion locations. If players happen to be in the vicinity of this seismic activity, they will be propelled upward and left disoriented. This condition, known as Concussed, negatively impacts their vision clarity, rate of fire, and movement agility. This ultimate move plays a significant role in capturing or defending bomb sites and is frequently employed for securing a victory in the round.
