Uriel arrived with a bang in the Old Peace update for Warframe. He and his three allies unleash fiery attacks, creating a spectacular display of damage as they burn through enemies. Uriel is a fast-paced, surprisingly tough character, and mastering his abilities makes him a really enjoyable Warframe to play.
This guide explains how to obtain and customize Uriel in Warframe. We’ll detail his powers, how they work with different modifications (mods), and other key information to help you build an effective Uriel setup.
How to Get Uriel in Warframe
To begin, finish the Old Peace quest. Completing it will give you Uriel’s blueprint, as well as other useful items and abilities.
Before you can start the Old Peace quest in Warframe, you’ll need to finish the Lotus Eaters quest. If you’re new to the game, complete The Teacher quest first. Then, when a message asking you to join a mission appears, accept the invitation.
After finishing the Old Peace quest, you can start getting the blueprints for Uriel’s individual parts by playing the Descendia game mode. You’ll find Descendia by choosing the ‘Dark Refractory’ option at your Navigation terminal. You need to reach Infernum 21 within Descendia to obtain a Uriel component blueprint.
You can also purchase the plans for Uriel’s gear from Roathe at La Cathedrale in the Sanctum Anatomica area. To do this, you’ll need Maphica, which you earn by playing Descendia.
Warframe Uriel Skills
Uriel is unique because he can be built as either a powerful weapon user or a magic-focused character. This allows for three different playstyles: maximizing his gun damage, enhancing his special abilities, or combining both approaches. To fully understand his versatility, let’s start by examining his abilities.
Uriel’s Passive
Uriel is always accompanied by three powerful demon allies. They look like large, imposing Sentinels, and each one has a unique role and ability.
- Catenach slows and binds enemies together, causing any damage taken by one of them to also apply to other chained enemies.
- Gulphagor latches onto a target, immobilizing and dealing damage over time. If the enemy is killed while immobilized by Gulphagor, they drop Health and Energy Orbs as well as a circle of pain that damages enemies.
- Vythelas inscribes runes upon dead enemies. Picking up this rune buffs your Fire Rate and makes your guns deal an additional instance of Heat damage.
During missions, three demons will distract enemies by attacking them without actively seeking to eliminate them. If defeated, these demons will reappear after a minute, or immediately if Uriel uses his special ability, Remedium. How well the demons perform depends on how Uriel uses his own powers.
Infernalis
As a Uriel player, I’m really excited about this skill! Basically, when you activate it, Uriel creates this awesome aura around him. Anyone caught inside takes Heat damage and gets hit with a status effect – super useful for controlling the battlefield. And get this: if you tap the dodge button while you’re jumping, Uriel actually flies forward! It’s not just a simple dash, either. You have complete control over where he goes while he’s flying, and you can stop it anytime by doing something else or just landing.
It’s best to keep Infernalis active at all times. When it’s on, enemies will panic and their armor will weaken. The more enemies burning, the less damage you’ll need to deal yourself. The flight ability is a fun bonus, but Uriel can be effective without focusing on it.
Remedium
Uriel starts a special ability that makes him temporarily invulnerable to all damage. Once the ability finishes, he restores his health and shields. If he already has full shields when he uses the ability, he gains an extra layer of protection called an Overshield. Additionally, Uriel heals and revives any of his demon companions who were defeated, bringing them back to life as soon as the ability’s animation completes.
Okay, so Uriel has this awesome panic button! Basically, if your shields go down, quickly open the shield gate window and use Remedium. It completely refills your shields and restores any health you’ve lost – it’s a lifesaver!
Demonium
Reduce the health of your summoned demons to launch explosive projectiles that automatically target enemies. These projectiles damage opponents and, like Oraxia’s web, briefly make them more susceptible to damage.
This ability isn’t meant to deal a lot of damage directly; its main strength is weakening enemies. When Demonium hits, enemies become much more vulnerable, and the amount of increased damage depends on how high Uriel’s Ability Strength is. However, the weakening effect doesn’t last long, and it doesn’t benefit much from increased Ability Duration.
Brimstone
Uriel creates a large area that continuously deals high Heat damage to enemies inside it. The more enemies are hit by the area, the stronger the Heat damage becomes.
Brimstone is incredibly powerful, capable of quickly defeating even tough enemies in the Steel Path. However, it’s not as simple as just using it when you have enough energy. You also need to build up a charge by using Uriel’s other abilities and working with his summoned demons. Only when the charge meter beneath your companions’ health bars is full can you unleash Brimstone’s full potential.
How to Build Uriel in Warframe
No matter how you like to play Uriel, these stats will always be helpful for him.
- Ability Strength
- Ability Range
- Casting Speed
- Ability Duration
- Parkour Velocity
Uriel’s abilities become much stronger as you increase his Ability Strength, particularly Brimstone and Demonium. If you could only improve one of his stats, Ability Strength would be the best choice.
Uriel also benefits from increased ability range. Having more range lets you hit enemies from a greater distance with skills like Infernalis and Brimstone. If you’re not prioritizing damage with Brimstone or the Vulnerability effect from Demonium, consider focusing on maximizing Uriel’s ability range instead.
As a Uriel player, I’ve found that while increasing how long his abilities last can be helpful for keeping Infernalis and Brimstone going, it’s not totally necessary. Honestly, with how often you get health and energy orbs from Gulphagor, you can basically just keep spamming abilities and refresh them as needed – it’s often more effective than trying to maximize their duration!
For Uriel, Casting Speed is extremely important, second only to another key stat. His abilities all take a noticeable amount of time to execute, so increasing his Casting Speed will make him feel much smoother and more responsive, particularly when using skills like Brimstone and Demonium.
Parkour Velocity works with Infernalis’ flight. Get this if you want to go fast.
Core Mods
- Equilibrium for easier Health/Energy management
- Flow for more max Energy
- A defensive mod like Adaptation for survivability
- Your pick of stat-boosting mods based on the section above
- Consider using Blind Rage to further boost Ability Strength at the cost of Efficiency.
When customizing your Aura mod, we suggest choosing either Growing Power to boost your Ability Strength, or a weapon-enhancing mod like Rifle Amp or Worthy Comradery.
When completing the Star Chart in Warframe, you can actually use any Warframe on Uriel – he’s very forgiving! His natural abilities are strong enough that you shouldn’t have trouble staying alive unless you make a big mistake. That said, we strongly suggest getting the Equilibrium mod quickly, as it will eliminate any concerns about running low on health or energy.
When you reach the late game, prioritize getting Archon Vitality. It significantly increases your damage output by making your abilities’ Heat effect apply twice, and it also provides a large increase to your maximum health.
Warframe Arcanes
Your choice of Arcanes will depend on your preferred playstyle. Some good options include:
| Weapon Platform | Arcane Rage — On Headshot, 15% chance to gain up to 180% Primary Weapon Damage Arcane Precision — On Headshot, get up to 300% increased Secondary Weapon Damage Arcane Avenger — When hit, 21% chance to get up to 45% bonus Critical Chance |
| Caster | Arcane Camisado — Attacks from Summoned Minions increase your Ability Strength on the next Ability cast. Molt Augmented — Get up to +0.24% Ability Strength per kill, up to 250x. |
As a player, I’ve found you can absolutely mix and match any two Arcanes, but if you really want to build around a specific way of playing, I’d recommend including a defensive Arcane. It just helps a lot with survivability!
Archon Shards
Just like with mods, you can get Archon Shards by repeatedly fighting Archons. Keep farming them until you find the specific shards you need or to improve your character’s stats.
We suggest prioritizing either Casting Speed or Parkour Velocity here to save valuable Warframe mod slots, unless your build specifically requires other core stats.
