Summary
- Blasphemous 2 introduces three new powerful weapons that can be switched during battle and used to solve puzzles.
- The Ruego Al Alba, a one-handed blade, is the most balanced weapon with decent speed and combo damage, as well as lifesteal abilities.
- The Sarmiento and Centella offer cuts and critical strikes with a sword and dagger, but players need to be careful to avoid enemy retaliation.
In Blasphemous 2, The Penitent One confronts The Miracle again. With the Mea Culpa absent, The Penitent One requires a weapon to wield against his adversaries. Luckily, the game provides three new weapons of great strength that can be changed during combat, and also used to solve various puzzles at will.
As a fervent admirer, I must say, which among the new weapons unveiled by The Penitent One packs the biggest punch against an assortment of adversaries and bosses in terms of destructive potential, functionality, and sheer coolness? The array of choices, from wielding a sword and dagger to transforming a church-related artifact into a weapon, presents some intriguing options. However, it’s clear that not all weapons in Blasphemous 2 are created equal; there are certainly some that outshine the rest, despite the limited selection available.
3. Ruego Al Alba
A Perfectly Balanced Weapon

In this game, Ruego Al Alba serves as an equivalent to the Mea Culpa from the initial Blasphemous installment. This one-handed sword allows players to engage enemies at a good distance with its extended reach. The Ruego Al Alba retains some abilities from the Mea Culpa, starting with the inheritance of its combo string. Players who opt for this as their initial weapon can already perform a three-hit combo from the get-go and execute a powerful dive attack called Weight of Sin. This move gains more strength the higher the player is in the air before executing it.
Regarding maneuverability, the Ruego Al Alba stands out as the most well-balanced among the trio of weapons. Its attacks are reasonably swift, and the damage from its combos escalates if each strike connects with the target. Furthermore, when its meter is fully charged, it activates Blood Pact, a feature that offers players lifesteal so long as they’re attacking enemies with Ruego Al Alba while the meter remains active. Activated Blood Pact also unlocks additional abilities, though these can only be accessed by investing Marks of Martyrdom to enhance its Weapon Memories.
While Ruego al Alba can conquer every game boss, it’s not always the best choice; in specific scenarios, quicker attacks or higher damage per strike are advantageous to avoid lengthy struggles. This tool is essential for breaking down the wooden obstacles dotting Custodia, which open up new areas, present fresh challenges, contain valuable loot, and reveal hidden points of interest.
2. Sarmiento and Centella
Quick Strikes At The Cost Of Low Damage Per Hit

As a fan who yearns for swift attacks and decisive strikes, I’d recommend starting with the Sarmiento and Centella. Wielding these weapons, you’ll find yourself dual-wielding a sword and dagger, delivering a flurry of rapid blows capable of critically wounding your foes. Not only that, but you’ll also inherit the lunging attack from the Mea Culpa, enabling you to swiftly close gaps and launch surprise attacks on your enemies. However, keep in mind that this playstyle requires discipline, as failing to land enough hits could leave you vulnerable to counterattacks by your opponents.
As a dedicated player, I’ve come to appreciate the electrifying essence of the Sarmiento and Centella. A succession of blows against foes amplifies their power, and when they reach their limit, they unleash electrical damage. Their Weapon Memories further enhance their potency, making them lethal when triggered. However, this lethality is fragile, as a single enemy strike can discharge the weapon’s charges. In navigating various parts of the map, this weapon proves crucial for crossing certain areas. During the challenging time-based platform puzzles, mastering the art of swiftly switching between these weapons and others becomes essential to complete tasks efficiently and effectively.
In Dark Souls, Sarmiento and Centella are nearly the embodiment of weapons tailored for a Dexterity-focused character. However, in Blasphemous, there’s no scaling with Dexterity, which means these weapons primarily shine through their speed and agility. Compared to other weapons such as Ruego al Alba, they can be used independently to take down bosses, but for optimal damage output, it’s advisable to pair them with other weapons in your arsenal.
1. Veredicto
Slower Strikes, High Damage Output

The Veredicto is a massive pendulum-like incense burner wielded by the Penitent One, resembling a morning star. Compared to other weapons, it moves at a slower pace, but its slowness is compensated by immense power and reach. Mastering the Veredicto’s swing arcs requires practice, but once players get accustomed to it, they can swiftly and repeatedly defeat enemies. Given its ball-and-chain design, the Veredicto is particularly effective against airborne opponents for the Penitent One.
Users can rotate the Veredicto to intensify its damage significantly by crouching low and rapidly pressing the attack key. However, it has a limited reach, so users should be near their target for this move to work effectively. This technique is particularly effective against bosses due to its diverse set of moves. Since it’s slower, players must show great restraint and recognize that they can only land one or two hits during each opening. If they pull off this strategy, Veredicto becomes an unstoppable force; however, if they become overly aggressive, death lies in wait.
– Additionally, Veredicto boasts fire attacks. To utilize this feature, players must enhance Veredicto’s Weapon Memories first. This attack inflicts powerful explosive fire damage, ideal for swiftly disposing of clusters of enemies. Furthermore, players can build up its swing for a catastrophic smash, and its upgraded form generates a wave-like effect along the direction the Penitent One is facing. In solving particular puzzles, the Veredicto becomes indispensable as it enables the ringing of bells that construct platforms from liquid metal floaters and unlock steel doors, thus making it an extraordinarily adaptable weapon to wield.
