Ever since its debut in December 2024, Delta Force has captivated firearm enthusiasts due to its extensive personalization features.
In simpler terms, the “Black Hawk Down” free expansion builds upon the foundation of the main game to offer players a grittier, realistic gaming experience.
The weapons available in the campaign are all derivatives of those in other modes.
In this case, you won’t be able to customize the parts of your weapon, but it should still feel comfortable and familiar to you when using the top-notch weapons featured in Delta Force: Black Hawk Down.
8. M24
For The Misguided Sniper
Type | Bolt-action sniper rifle |
---|---|
Ammo Capacity | 5 (60 in inventory) |
Pros | Heavy damage |
Cons | Low capacity; slow rate of fire; scope nearly useless due to map size |
After spending a sufficient amount of time playing shooter games, it’s quite likely that you’re acquainted with someone who boasts about being the most skilled marksman around.
A child who always carries an Arctic Warfare Police (AWP) gun in the game Counter-Strike, and becomes upset when caught off guard and loses.
If you’re familiar with this player or share similarities, this weapon could be ideal for you. Equipped with a powerful five-round capacity of 7.62x51mm NATO and featuring a scope that likely outreaches the map’s limits, the M24 stands as an unusual choice in the game “Black Hawk Down”.
In this setting, numerous armed militia members often approach your location, leading to intense gun battles just 30 meters away, and each moment without firing a shot moves you closer to a grim conclusion.
The M24 sniper rifle is remarkable, but it struggles against all other choices presented here. Only someone as skilled as John Wick could effectively use it, and that’s mainly due to his unwavering faith in the Beretta M9.
If your group strongly prefers a skilled shooter, it would be wiser to opt for either the M21 or the M16A2, both equipped with ACOG sights, in this situation.
7. Beretta M9
The Best Mediocre Pistol Ever Made

Type | Semi-automatic pistol |
---|---|
Ammo Capacity | 15 (60 in inventory) |
Pros | It shoots when your other gun stops shooting |
Cons | Slow rate of fire; poor ranged performance |
In the Black Hawk Down campaign, the powerful M9 handgun is your exclusive option. Functioning as a 9mm sidearm, it delivers on all its claims.
The Beretta has iron sights and a flashlight, with a 15-round magazine and manageable recoil.
Instead of pulling out your gun from its holster and mimicking Dirty Harry when your main weapon runs out, it’s better to remember that its firing speed isn’t particularly fast.
Incidentally, it’s disappointing that they didn’t provide the Colt M1911 as an option, considering it was still a part of the U.S. Army arsenal at the time.
6. M21
From Vietnam To Mogadishu

Type | Battle rifle |
---|---|
Ammo Capacity | 20 (120 in inventory) |
Pros | High damage; red dot sight |
Cons | Low ammo capacity; heavy; long barrel |
If, like me during my younger years, you’ve watched the movie “Black Hawk Down” more than once, it’s quite possible that at some point, while engaged in a multiplayer game with an M14, you’ve exclaimed “Gordy’s gone man, I’ll be outside” – a phrase inspired by the film.
While the M14 has a fire mode selector, the M21 used in Black Hawk Down is its sniper variant, lacking this feature. In practical terms, both rifles are challenging to manage during automatic firing, with the M14 being particularly difficult due to its handling characteristics.
While I have a strong affinity for the M21, unfortunately, it’s not ideal for many of our tasks at hand. This weapon stands out for its unwieldy nature, being significantly heavier and longer-barreled than most other rifles available to us.
With a magazine holding only 20 rounds, it boasts the least capacity compared to other semi-automatic and assault rifles. However, given that these are 7.62x51mm NATO bullets, the ones you manage to hit aren’t likely to rise again.
The recoil is on the high side, but the red dot and ACOG sights help stay on target.
It’s more of a ‘vibes’ weapon than a proper smart choice, but style points always matter in combat.
5. M870
Pump It Up

Type | Pump-action shotgun |
---|---|
Ammo Capacity | 6 (80 in inventory) |
Pros | Devastating close-range performance; light; compact |
Cons | Nearly useless at range; long reload time; slow rate of fire |
In tight quarters, shotguns serve as the equivalent of a heavy battering ram in conflict. The adrenaline rush from bursting into a room, annihilating an adversary with a barrage, and reloading the firearm for the following round is seldom duplicated in digital gaming.
The Remington Model 870 is widely favored by military forces and SWAT units for a number of compelling reasons.
In the portrayal from Black Hawk Down, it features a polymer stock and the conventional six-round magazine housed within the pump handle, also incorporating a flashlight.
In tight spaces, it’s a highly destructive tool, but much like other shotguns, particularly those using buckshot rounds, its effectiveness diminishes significantly as the distance increases.
The pump doesn’t operate at breakneck speed, so if you fail to take the initial shot, let’s hope your opponent does as well.
4. M16A2
A Ranger’s Best Friend

Type | Assault rifle |
---|---|
Ammo Capacity | 30 (240 in inventory) |
Pros | Recoil control; ranged performance |
Cons | Long barrel; heavy; no full-auto |
Upon its debut, the M16A2 received criticism from soldiers making the switch from the M16A1. The updated rifle featured a sturdier barrel and stock, but instead of offering full-automatic firing, it was equipped with a three-round burst option.
In tight Mogadishu homes, the M16A2 feels cumbersome due to its long barrel. Although the 5.56x45mm NATO round packs a punch, I find it nerve-wracking in close quarters combat (CQB) as there’s no full auto option for a quick magazine dump. However, the rate of fire is still manageable.
On a positive note, while carbine models of the AR-15 may have their advantages, the longer, heavier barrel on the M16A2 significantly reduces recoil and enhances its performance at longer ranges.
While there might be some benefits to carbine versions of the AR-15, the long and heavy barrel of the M16A2 really shines when it comes to managing recoil and excelling in long-range shooting situations.
In “Delta Force Black Hawk Down,” the reduced recoil might not be immediately apparent, but it makes the weapon particularly effective during outdoor scenarios.
Personal opinion: I find the carrying handle iron sights on the M16 rifles to be my favorite among all those in the game. I just had to share that thought with you.
3. HK MP5
Spec Ops Drip

Type | Submachine gun |
---|---|
Ammo Capacity | 30 (150 in inventory) |
Pros | Rate of fire; compact; light; low recoil |
Cons | Low damage; mediocre ranged performance |
During the peak of the Cold War era, the HK MP5 submachine gun stood out as the top choice among special operations units across the globe.
After the British Special Air Service (SAS) utilized it during the rescue operation of the Iranian Embassy in London, which followed an extended hostage crisis, the weapon gained widespread recognition and fame within popular culture.
In the Delta Force campaign, we’re provided with an MP5 that comes equipped with a collapsible stock and an integrated under-barrel light, which is part of the handguard itself.
The MP5 is lightweight and capable of rapid firing, yet it maintains a high level of control even in continuous automatic shots. However, its characteristics stem from the 9x19mm ammunition – it has a lower impact force, and its effectiveness decreases significantly beyond 50 meters.
2. M249
Get Some!

Type | Light machine gun |
---|---|
Ammo Capacity | 100 (900 in inventory) |
Pros | Rate of fire; soft recoil; ammo capacity |
Cons | Extremely long reload time |
The M249 Squad Automatic Weapon was first used in the 1980s, and it is still widely considered as one of the top light machine guns globally. The variant featured in “Black Hawk Down” comes with an intermediate-length barrel.
As a devotee, I find myself captivated by the M249, sharing the same 5.56x45mm caliber with the M16A2 and CAR-15. Its design cleverly harnesses the soft recoil of this round, allowing me to deliver precise, sustained fire without relying on bipods or weapon rests for stability.
Indeed, it’s significantly heavier compared to standard M16 models, yet a typical M16 won’t discharge 100 rounds consecutively; instead, it would require reloading after about that amount.
As soon as a teammate calls out “mag change,” the SAW gunner immediately breaks into song, unleashing an extended barrage of fire against the opposition.
1. Colt 723
The Proto-M4 Carbine

Type | Assault rifle |
---|---|
Ammo Capacity | 30 (240 in inventory) |
Pros | Full-auto; compact; light; red dot sight; |
Cons | Moderately worse ranged performance |
In the battlefields of Mogadishu, while the majority of Rangers wielded M16A2 rifles, a good number of the covert Delta operatives predominantly used Colt 723 carbines. This weapon is the senior counterpart to the M4 carbine and performs just as efficiently.
In the early ’90s, this setup was about as trendy as it got: a compact barrel, a red sight accentuated with tape, an extendable stock, and a faded camouflage finish.
In Mogadishu, there’s no superior choice for a sidearm than this modified CAR-15. It boasts a high firing speed and manageable recoil, and it offers the advantage of both single and full-auto shooting, unlike the M16A2 with its full length.
On the firearm you see, the red dot sight boasts a broad viewing range and slender construction for optimal awareness of surroundings.
