They’ve added Steam achievements to several older Assassin’s Creed titles, even though those features weren’t available when the games originally launched. While it would have been ideal to include these features from the beginning, it’s great that Ubisoft continues to update the games, even though it would be simpler to leave them as they are. Ubisoft Might Be Working on 60 FPS Upgrades For Older Assassin’s Creed Titles
According to gaming insider Tom Henderson, Ubisoft is planning to improve the performance of several older Assassin’s Creed games on current-generation consoles. The goal is to boost the frame rate to 60 FPS, offering a smoother experience for players revisiting these titles in 2026 and beyond. Henderson mentioned Ubisoft recently did this for Far Cry, and now seems to be applying the same approach to Assassin’s Creed. He specifically stated that Assassin’s Creed Unity is likely to be among the first to receive the upgrade. While Unity was the only title named, it’s expected that other games limited to 30 FPS will also be updated, potentially including Assassin’s Creed 3, Rogue, and The Ezio Collection. Black Flag could also be included, though plans for a rumored remake, Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag Resynced, might affect those plans.
While Ubisoft hasn’t officially announced anything, it’s likely we’ll see more Assassin’s Creed games updated to run at 60 frames per second. The company recently surprised players with 60 FPS upgrades for Far Cry 3, Blood Dragon, and Primal. Considering Ubisoft is currently revisiting some of its biggest franchises, offering these updates for free would be a smart way to improve player satisfaction. Ubisoft has done this with Assassin’s Creed before – they released 60 FPS updates for Assassin’s Creed Syndicate in 2024 and Assassin’s Creed Origins in 2022. After a pause, it looks like more upgrades might be on the way.
Ubisoft has been facing financial difficulties and is currently reorganizing its business. As a result, the popular Assassin’s Creed franchise is expected to be a major focus for the company in the future. Recent reports indicate that Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag Resynced, a long-anticipated project, has been postponed, though this hasn’t been officially confirmed. The next major Assassin’s Creed installment, Assassin’s Creed Hexe, is in development, but details are currently scarce. With Ubisoft relying heavily on Assassin’s Creed, the next few years will be crucial for the series.
