Big Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment Update Coming on November 27

Nintendo and Koei Tecmo have released their newest game, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment, on November 5, 2025. The game takes place hundreds of years before The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, and tells the story of Princess Zelda, King Rauru, the sage Mineru, and others as they battle the growing danger of Ganondorf and his army.

As a big fan of the Hyrule Warriors games, I’m really excited about this! Like Hyrule Warriors and Age of Calamity before it, Age of Imprisonment is all about fast-paced, action-packed combat, and you get to play as tons of different characters from all over Hyrule. Most people seem to agree it’s one of the best Hyrule Warriors games yet, and honestly, it feels like these games are becoming a really important part of the overall Zelda story. And now, Nintendo is dropping a free update just in time for Thanksgiving, which is awesome! It’s great to see them continuing to support the game and give us even more to enjoy.

Major Age of Imprisonment Update Adds New Weapons, Sync Strikes, and More

I’m so excited! Nintendo just announced the first big update for Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment is dropping on November 27th, and the best part is it’s totally free! They’ve given us a sneak peek at what’s coming, and it sounds amazing. Princess Zelda and Calamo the Korok are getting a brand new team attack, and they’re adding two new weapons – including Rauru’s awesome Sword of Light! Plus, they’re throwing in tougher enemies, like stronger versions of Bokoblins, so it’s going to be a real challenge. I can’t wait to jump back in!

The recent announcement didn’t reveal much detail about the new battles coming in the free update for Age of Imprisonment. The official Japanese website offers short descriptions of three upcoming challenges: fighting Rauru, collecting a lot of Poes, and achieving over 2000 knockouts. The fight against Rauru is especially noteworthy, as he was the first King of Hyrule and a powerful Sage of Light, suggesting a difficult battle for players.

This is the first free update for Age of Imprisonment, and we plan to release more. The game’s Japanese website previously announced three free content updates in total. Like Tears of the Kingdom, there are currently no plans for paid downloadable content (DLC) for Age of Imprisonment. While Age of Calamity received a large Expansion Pass with new characters, Age of Imprisonment won’t be getting that kind of extra content; the upcoming free updates are all players can expect.
