Even with lots of new games planned for 2026, there’s still excitement for updated versions of beloved classics. Luckily, several great remakes and remasters are coming out, offering fans a fresh way to experience iconic series and promising newcomers alike. No matter your gaming preferences, 2026 has a reimagined classic for you.
In 2026, several exciting remakes and remastered games are set to launch, and TopMob has highlighted a few of the most anticipated titles. While even more may be announced, these games – featuring everything from action-packed shooters to detailed role-playing adventures and beloved characters – are the ones to watch.
Yakuza Kiwami 3 + Dark Ties

The Yakuza series has become incredibly popular over the last ten years, and the well-received Kiwami remakes of the earlier games paved the way for a remake of Yakuza 3. Yakuza Kiwami 3 brings players back to the world of Kazuma Kiryu and the dangerous streets of Kamurocho, where he’s caught in a gang war that threatens the orphanage he cares for. Players who enjoyed the original Yakuza 3 will be pleased to find a new story chapter called “Dark Ties,” letting them experience the events from the perspective of the antagonist, Mine, and learn his motivations. The Kiwami remakes offer a fantastic way to jump into Kiryu’s compelling story, making this a series new players should definitely check out.
Tales of Berseria Remastered

The ‘Tales of’ series is celebrating 30 years of exciting action RPGs, and many of the older games have been updated for modern consoles. Now, ‘Tales of Berseria,’ originally released in 2016, is getting a remaster. This game, which takes place before ‘Tales of Zestiria,’ tells the story of Velvet Crowe’s quest for revenge against those who harmed her family. The remaster features fast-paced combat, memorable characters, and a compelling, darker storyline, along with new accessibility options and all previously released downloadable content. If you’re searching for a fantastic classic RPG, ‘Tales of Berseria Remastered’ is a great choice.
Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis

As a huge Tomb Raider fan, I’m so excited to see Lara Croft return in this remake of the original 1996 game! They’re calling it Legacy of Atlantis, and it lets you relive Lara’s first adventure for the Scion of Atlantis, but with incredible next-gen graphics and controls. Honestly, it looks like the best way to play this classic, whether you’re new to the series or have been playing for years. Who wouldn’t want to do backflips, dual-wield pistols, and fight dinosaurs in 4K? It’s also a fantastic way to celebrate 30 years of Tomb Raider, especially with another new game, Catalyst, coming in 2027!
Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter

Building on the popularity of the first remake, Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter will be released soon. The game continues the story of Estelle, who returns to Liberl in search of Joshua. It offers a distinctive combat system, combining real-time action with classic turn-based battles – a unique approach for JRPG fans. Featuring both familiar and new characters, alongside improved graphics, Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter is expected to be a major RPG release in 2026. Its fall release date gives players who are new to the series ample time to experience Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter first.
Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined

Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined is a beautifully updated version of the beloved 2000 RPG. It features a charming, diorama-like art style with characters that look like 3D dolls, capturing the classic Dragon Quest spirit. You play as a hero who teams up with a diverse group of adventurers to explore remote islands and fight against evil. With its familiar turn-based battles and art by the renowned Akira Toriyama, this remake has quickly become a fan favorite. It includes new story elements, gameplay improvements, and extra character classes, making Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined an immersive RPG experience.
Dynasty Warriors 3 Complete Edition Remastered

Following the recent release of Dynasty Warriors: Origins, Koei Tecmo is updating a classic: Dynasty Warriors 3. Originally launched in 2001, this installment is beloved by fans and critics for its fast-paced combat and impressive graphics. Set after the events of Dynasty Warriors 2, the game lets you play as more than 40 different historical officers during the Three Kingdoms period. This remastered version will feel completely fresh thanks to modern improvements like the massive 1,000 vs. 1 battles introduced in Origins and the power of Unreal Engine 5. As the Dynasty Warriors series gains more fans, this remastered edition is a perfect entry point for anyone looking for exciting action and sword fights.
Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly Remake

Man, the 2000s were a golden age for horror games, and Fatal Frame really stood out – it was huge in Japan and then blew up over here too. It’s been a while since we’ve gotten a new game in the series – the last one was in 2014 – but thankfully they’re remaking Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly, which is awesome. You play as twin sisters, Mio and Mayu, and you get stuck in this seriously haunted town. Basically, you have to figure out what went wrong and repeat an old ritual to break the curse. The cool part? You fight ghosts with a Camera Obscura – you have to take pictures of them to defeat them, solve puzzles, and find key items. This remake looks genuinely terrifying and should be a must-have for any horror fan… if you can handle it!
Halo Campaign Evolved

The original Halo: Combat Evolved campaign is being completely rebuilt and released as a standalone game. Players will once again step into the role of Master Chief and battle the Covenant, all while experiencing updated graphics and expanded story elements. This remake refines the classic first-person shooter gameplay with modern improvements, making it a fantastic way to celebrate the game’s 25th anniversary and revisit the title that launched the Halo franchise on Xbox.
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time

Originally launched in 2003, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time revitalized the platforming genre. Now, Ubisoft Montreal is creating a modern remake of this beloved classic. Players take on the role of a nameless Prince who can control time, and must use this ability to defeat the villainous Vizier and save the world. The remake has faced numerous development challenges and delays, but a planned release in 2026 is giving fans renewed hope that this iconic adventure will finally be reborn.
Steins;Gate Re:Boot

Steins;Gate originally impressed players in 2009 with its unique mix of genres and surprising plot twists. Now, fans of the game and anime series can look forward to a remake called Steins;Gate Re:Boot. This updated version will feature improved graphics and extra content for both new players and longtime fans. You’ll play as scientist Rintaro Okabe, and along with your friends, you’ll discover a way to alter the past – but changing history comes with serious risks. The game features a branching story with plenty to explore, no matter if you’re experiencing Steins;Gate for the first time or revisiting a favorite.
