Biggest Upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 Games

The Switch 2 enjoyed a strong first year, boasting excellent exclusive games like Mario Kart World, Donkey Kong Bananza, and even the more specialized Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment. It also benefited from impressive ports of popular third-party titles, including Bravely Default: Flying Fairy HD Remaster, Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition, and Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut. The future looks bright, with promising first-party and third-party games planned for 2026 and beyond.

The Switch 2 will have a wide variety of games, including platformers, shooters, and RPGs, and many are coming soon. If you’re getting a Switch 2 and want to know what to look forward to – potentially including big hits like Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 – these are the games you should add to your wishlist.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade

Uploading The Cloud

  • Planned Release Date: 1/22/26
  • Planned Systems: Switch 2 and Xbox Series X/S

Final Fantasy 7 Remake first came out for PlayStation 4 in 2020. A year later, in 2021, Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade was released for PlayStation 5 and PC, adding new features like a photo mode and a new story chapter focused on the character Yuffie.

The updated Switch 2 version doesn’t seem to offer a lot of new features, but it’s still remarkable how well it runs on the console, judging by the available demo. This remake of the Midgar portion of Final Fantasy 7 was a hit back in 2020, and it has the potential to be popular again with the release of new consoles.

Resident Evil Requiem

A Newbie And An Oldie

  • Planned Release Date: 2/27/26
  • Planned Systems: PC, PS5, Switch 2, Xbox Series X/S

While the Switch 2 version of Resident Evil Requiem might not be as polished as versions on other consoles, it’s still a highly anticipated game, especially since the last major Resident Evil release was back in 2021. The story centers around a new character named Grace who travels to Raccoon City to investigate a string of murders.

Players controlling her will focus on stealth and exploration, while Leon’s part of the game will be filled with more direct action. Bringing back a popular character like Leon is sure to generate a lot of excitement leading up to the game’s release in February.

Pokemon Pokopia

Minecraft: Ditto Edition

  • Planned Release Date: 3/5/26
  • Planned Systems: Switch 2

Okay, so I just heard about Pokemon Pokopia, and honestly, it sounds a little strange at first! It’s a new Pokemon game where a Ditto gets separated from its trainer. But here’s the cool part – to keep busy while it waits, it turns into a human and starts helping out with all the Pokemon on this lonely island. It’s a really interesting idea, and I’m definitely curious to see how it plays out!

In this Pokemon-themed building game, players can learn new skills as Ditto, such as cutting grass or watering plants, by interacting with other Pokemon. While it might not be as widely popular or offer as much creative freedom as Minecraft, the unique ability to play as Ditto makes it a fascinating experience.

Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection

Fly High, Dragon Rider

  • Planned Release Date: 3/13/26
  • Planned Systems: PC, PS5, Switch 2, and Xbox Series X/S

Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection is a new role-playing game where you’ll experience a different kind of gameplay than traditional Monster Hunter titles. Instead of direct action, this game uses turn-based battles. You can collect monster eggs, hatch the monsters, and then fight alongside them with other hunters.

The game will feature a large, explorable world, similar to past titles, and you’ll be able to travel using mounts. Trailers suggest mounts might even play a role in gameplay. We’ll have answers to the biggest questions within a few months, and this installment has the potential to be a game-changer.

Pragmata

Hacking Battles

  • Release Date: 4/24/26
  • Planned Systems: PC, PS5, Switch 2, and, Xbox Series X/S

Capcom is developing a new game called Pragmata. The game follows Hugh, a space explorer, and Diana, a young android he finds. Diana has the ability to hack into enemy robots, while Hugh is equipped to fight them directly.

Man, it feels like forever since I first saw Pragmata back in 2020 when the PS5 was revealed! It’s been in development for ages, which is a little nerve-wracking, but I’m really hoping all that extra time means Capcom is crafting something truly special – a brand new franchise that’ll be huge.

007 First Light

Bond, Delayed Bond

  • Planned Release Date: 5/27/26
  • Planned Systems: PC, PS5, Switch 2, Xbox Series X/S

It’s been a while since a new James Bond game came out, and 007 First Light is a reboot of sorts, featuring a new, inexperienced Bond just starting his career. The game will focus on stealth missions where players can take down enemies without killing them, offering a variety of non-lethal options.

The game will feature immersive movement options like crouching through bushes and climbing through windows, and will also include driving sections. Knowing IO Interactive’s history – particularly the detailed and open-ended levels in their recent Hitman games – players can expect a highly polished experience.

The Duskbloods

Bloodborne 2*

  • Planned Release Date: 2026
  • Planned Systems: Switch 2

FromSoftware’s next game, The Duskbloods, will be launching exclusively on the Switch 2. Many fans believe it’s a spiritual successor to their 2015 hit, Bloodborne, due to its similar gothic atmosphere and character designs.

Unlike most games in the Souls-like genre that focus on combat, the first trailer for this game showed some unique abilities, such as transforming into a T. rex head to attack. While it appears there will be a strong focus on player-versus-player battles, many details are still unknown, and the game could offer much more than that.

Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave

Prepare The Colosseum

  • Planned Release Date: 2026
  • Planned Systems: Switch 2

Fans have been eagerly anticipating a new Fire Emblem game, and Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave is currently slated for release in 2026. So far, only one trailer has been released, hinting at a large cast of characters battling in an arena inspired by ancient Rome.

The trailer mainly shows battles taking place in an arena, but some also happen in open fields. The gameplay seems familiar to fans of the series – you’ll choose weapons, character classes, and special abilities. It’s currently unclear how this new installment connects to the overall story, and players will need to wait for more details.

Orbitals

A Two-Player Anime

  • Planned Release Date: 2026
  • Planned Systems: Switch 2

If you love cooperative games like It Takes Two, Orbitals looks like a promising new title. It’s designed specifically for two players, and its unique visual style – reminiscent of 80s and 90s anime with a grainy look – really makes it stand out. Players take control of explorers Maki and Omura, working together to save their space station from an unknown danger.

The game features flying, spaceship combat, and fast-paced, action-packed levels. It will be interesting to see how diverse the gameplay is when the full game releases, especially compared to other games designed solely for cooperative play.

Mina The Hollower

A Retro Zelda-Like

  • Planned Release Date: TBA
  • Planned Systems: PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Switch 2, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S

Originally planned to release on most platforms in October 2025, Mina the Hollower has been delayed to a currently unknown date. This is encouraging, though, as the playable demos already felt complete. The game is inspired by classic action-adventure titles from the Game Boy, such as The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening.

Players take on the role of Mina, who can battle enemies using different weapons, dig tunnels, and gain experience to become stronger. This game is the next big project from the creators of Shovel Knight, so expectations are high!
