It’s been over ten years since BioShock Infinite came out, and fans of the popular BioShock series are really hoping for news about the next game, often called BioShock 4. After a difficult development process, recent leaks have offered some exciting details, including information about the game‘s setting and key characters, giving fans a reason to be optimistic again.
Reports suggest that the development of BioShock 4 has been troubled, and there’s been no official update on its progress. While the project has faced leadership changes, internal setbacks, and a lack of public information since its announcement in 2019, developers have tried to assure fans that work is continuing. Understandably, fans have lowered their expectations, hoping the game will eventually be released. However, recent leaks offer a glimmer of hope that development is moving forward for BioShock fans.
Rumored Locations and Characters in BioShock 4
Okay, so MP1st is reporting some really interesting stuff about BioShock 4. Apparently, they’ve gotten info from inside sources that points to a big casino being a key location in the game. We already heard rumors it might be set in Antarctica, and this casino could be even bigger and more impressive than anything we’ve seen in the previous BioShock games – maybe even the setting for a huge battle! They also mentioned a place called “Solaria” or “Solaris” might be a district in the game, and the “Solarians” could be anything from the rich and powerful to regular people, or even the bad guys. They’re still saying snow will be a big part of the atmosphere, so those Antarctica rumors might not be totally off base. It’s all super exciting!
Image via MP1st, Cloud Chamber According to sources at MP1st, the next BioShock game might feature a new enemy type called “Flushers,” possibly similar to the Splicers from the original BioShock. These sources also suggest the return of a substance like ADAM, making the inclusion of a Splicer-like enemy almost certain. The game could also introduce a major villain in the vein of Andrew Ryan or Comstock, hinted at by detailed golden statues. As for the player character, a human figure used for environmental scaling may offer a first look at the protagonist’s design, though it’s possible this model is just a placeholder or a non-player character.
Despite the excitement around recent leaks, reported layoffs at the game’s developer, Cloud Chamber, in August 2025 have likely pushed back the release of BioShock 4 once again. Experts now predict the game won’t be available until at least 2027, and further delays are possible depending on ongoing development. However, many successful AAA games, like L.A. Noire, Doom (2016), and the original Resident Evil 4, overcame difficult development processes. Whether BioShock 4 will ultimately reach players remains to be seen, but dedicated fans are hoping the final product will be well worth the wait.
