BioWare May Be Teasing Multiplayer Coming To Mass Effect: Legendary Edition

Today’s N7 Day announcement, celebrating the Mass Effect series, didn’t seem to generate a lot of excitement or attention.

Mike Gamble, the Executive Producer, has confirmed that the new Mass Effect game is still being made. He also revealed that the upcoming Amazon TV series will be set after the events of the original three Mass Effect games. While we’ve heard about some returning characters through casting news, it’s great to have official confirmation. Considering Amazon’s success with shows like Fallout and The Boys, the Mass Effect series seems to be in capable hands.

But there’s more Mass Effect news today! Several people, including my wife, spotted an unusual formatting issue with the blog posts.

There were some unnecessary italics in the text. While italics are standard for game titles like Mass Effect, we also saw random letters and even the term “N7” incorrectly italicized.

If you read the italicized letters in sequence, they spell out a secret code: U R L K R O G A N N 7. BioWare has hidden things like this in their posts before – they did something similar a few years ago with the first teaser for Mass Effect Epsilon.

This year’s hidden Easter egg, found at the web address https://blog.bioware.com/2025/11/07/n7-day-2025/Krogan/N7, actually links to a blog post about a Mass Effect 3 multiplayer event from way back in 2012 – a weekend challenge called N7 Day. It’s a pretty strange discovery, and it gets even stranger when you consider the timing!

The blog post for the N7 Challenge Weekend included a link to masseffect.com for more details, which was standard practice. However, that link now takes you to information about the Mass Effect Legendary Edition – a version of the game that didn’t exist back in 2012.

Mass Effect: Legendary Edition Didn’t Launch With The Fan-Favorite Mass Effect 3 Multiplayer

The Mass Effect: Legendary Edition was fantastic, bringing updated graphics and helpful improvements to the original games. However, it left out one popular feature: the multiplayer mode from Mass Effect 3.

Leading up to the release of Mass Effect 3, there wasn’t much excitement about the multiplayer portion of the game. However, the cooperative horde mode turned out to be surprisingly fun, and many players continued to enjoy it even after finishing the main story.

Mass Effect fans were disappointed that the Legendary Edition didn’t include multiplayer. This was because the original game’s horde mode was important for achieving the best possible ending in the campaign, helping players complete key objectives.

Mike Gamble insists there’s no hidden message here, but many fans are speculating this news might hint at multiplayer being added to the Mass Effect Legendary Edition. This could be a way to keep players engaged while we wait for more information about the next Mass Effect game. I, for one, would love to see it and would happily play for many more hours.
