In the most recent update about the development process for the next chapter in Mass Effect from BioWare, the team leader mentions that the project doesn’t necessitate assistance from the entire studio. Instead, some employees have been reassigned to different teams within Electronic Arts. Despite this shift in work structure, they continue to emphasize the guidance of veterans who worked on the original trilogy.
According to a recent blog post from BioWare, the main group responsible for creating Dragon Age: The Veilguard is currently focusing on the development of the next Mass Effect game. Simultaneously, some employees at BioWare have been reassigned to other Electronic Arts (EA) teams with vacancies that suit their skills. IGN has also mentioned that a few members from the Dragon Age team have lost their positions.
According to their latest update, BioWare emphasized that seasoned team leaders will oversee the development of the upcoming Mass Effect title.
- Michael Gamble: Manager and Producer on Mass Effect 2, Mass Effect 3, and Andromeda.
- Preston Watamaniuk: Lead Designer on the original trilogy.
- Parrish Ley: Cinematic Animator for the original trilogy.
- Derek Watts: Art Director for the original trilogy.
There’s widespread opinion that the upcoming Mass Effect game is a crucial release for BioWare, as it could make or break their reputation. The development process of Dragon Age: Veilguard was long and tumultuous, resulting in only 1.5 million copies sold – half of what Electronic Arts anticipated. This underperformance, along with EA Sports FC 25 failing to meet internal targets, led to a significant decrease of 17% in EA’s stock value. Recently, the game director of Veilguard, Corrine Busch, departed from the company after serving for 18 years.
