Black Clover: Who is Lolopechka?

Black Clover: Who is Lolopechka?

As a long-time fan of Black Clover and someone who has followed Lolopechka’s journey since the very beginning, it’s heartbreaking to see her under Megicula’s curse. The Heart Kingdom’s princess, with her immense magical powers and kind spirit, is no ordinary mage. Her bond with Undine, the spirit of water, is unique and powerful, one that has protected her kingdom for generations. However, it seems that her lack of attack spells due to her innate kindness has put her in a dangerous position.

In a heartbeat, I find myself identified with the destined one under Megicula’s curse – Princess Lolopechka, the benevolent monarch of the Heart Kingdom. As she gracefully tends to her domain, it’s us, the Black Bulls, who gain valuable insights for our impending battle, all thanks to her wisdom and guidance.

Meanwhile, Megicula and Vanica may have a darker plan for Lolopechka, transforming her into a Devil and compelling her to battle against her comrades. Given the vast wisdom that Lolopechka possesses, delve deeper into her character in Black Clover.

Who is Lolopechka?

Lolopechka is a kind ruler of the Heart Kingdom, overseeing her citizens and protecting them from harm

Black Clover: Who is Lolopechka?

In the world of Black Clover, Lolopechka serves as both the current princess and ruler of the Heart Kingdom. Interestingly, other characters often address her as queen too. She possesses a significant portion of the magical abilities that were wielded by past princesses in the Heart Kingdom. Moreover, she is also the high priestess of Undine, the water spirit. Due to this inheritance of powerful magic from previous rulers, Lolopechka holds an astonishing amount of magical energy, as Noelle remarks in Chapter 228.

Due to her special power, Lolopechka can observe all corners of the Heart Kingdom from her room and masterfully manipulate her Water Magic. Unlike Clover Kingdom, Heart Kingdom has a distinct system for assessing an individual’s magical aptitude. Over time, its inhabitants have evolved spells in response to their environment’s potent mana. This evolution led to the creation of the Magic Stages and Mana Method. The Magic Stages range from Level 0 to Level 9, with Arcane Stage Mage being the most powerful. Mana Method is a unique Heart Kingdom practice that unlocks one’s true magical abilities.

In a nutshell, Lolopechka is a youthful lady known for her frequent trips and stumbles. Yet, she deeply values those residing within her realm, keeping tabs on them using a magical surveillance spell. Regrettably, she’s been afflicted by Megicula’s curse, leaving her with just a year left to live. In the wake of revealing Devils and the Dark Triad, Clover and Heart Kingdoms share a joint objective: cultivating potent mages aimed at defeating the Dark Triad. Given this situation, Lolopechka has consented to mentor Asta, Noelle, Secre, Mimosa, and Finral – individuals with unique magical abilities – as they ready themselves for the impending conflict.

Six months after their initial encounter, the Dark Triad embarked towards Clover and Heart Kingdom with a specific mission: to bring back Yami Sukihiro, William Vangeance, and Lolopechka. These individuals possess unique Arcane Stage magics – Dark and World Tree Magic in the case of Yami and William, while Lolopechka is afflicted by Megicula’s curse. The primary goal of the Dark Triad is to resurrect the Tree of Qliphoth, a conduit connecting the underworld with our world, which requires the skills of both Yami and William. Meanwhile, Vanica and Megicula have been tracking Lolopechka as her curse was about to expire.

After discovering the link between Noelle and Acier, Vanica finds amusement and subsequently plans to abduct Lolopechka with the intention that Noelle might grow stronger. This kidnapping, it turns out, served a dual purpose: aside from potentially pushing Noelle towards growth, Lolopechka was also a treasure trove of power and wisdom, having inherited the abilities of all past Heart Kingdom princesses.

Nevertheless, Morris – a scholar who had been banished from the Diamond Kingdom – discovered a means to harvest and graft Lolopechka’s knowledge onto the Tree of Qliphoth, thereby hastening its development. As a result, Lolopechka was put under a spell that compelled her to attack her companions, making her a captive pawn for Megicula to use in executing her curse whenever she desired to kill Lolopechka. Eventually, Noelle and Nozel managed to rescue Lolopechka from this predicament.

Why did Megicula curse Lolopechka?

Due to Lolopechka’s impressive magic powers, she’s Megicula’s next target

Black Clover: Who is Lolopechka?

Previously noted, Megicula cast a fatal curse upon Lolopechka, leaving her with just one year left to live. This curse is also known as the Evil Goddess’s Curse or Malevolent Femcantation. To step into our world, Megicula required three powerful mages at the Arcane or Saint Stage, all of whom shared the same gender. By casting her curse upon them, she weakened and ultimately took their lives.

Following the death of the sorcerer, control over their magical abilities would pass to Megicula. At present, Megicula possesses both Vanica and Acier Silva. Yet, Lolopechka continues to seek strategies to vanquish Megicula and lift the curse afflicting them. However, defeating Megicula is a slow process due to the scarcity of powerful mages among the kingdoms.

Following Lolopechka’s demise, I find myself contemplating the full manifestation of Megicula within our world. It’s not solely through Lolopechka’s death that Megicula can appear in our realm; the opening of the Tree of Qliphoth serves as a conduit for her entry too. Yet, it seems that this is her favored approach, perhaps because she holds a supreme status among devils.

What are Lolopechka’s magic abilities?

Undine has made hostesses out of the Heart Kingdom’s princesses for generations

Black Clover: Who is Lolopechka?

In simpler terms, Lolopechka possesses and controls Water magic, working in partnership with the water spirit, Undine. As you may recall, Lolopechka’s magical abilities are extensive enough to oversee the entire Heart Kingdom. She also ensures the security of her kingdom by using Undine’s help to create a protective barrier that notifies anyone attempting entry. If someone manages to enter, they must make an official request, but only the noble members from the Clover Kingdom are granted access.

Despite inheriting massive mana and magical abilities from ancestors, Lolopechka lacks offensive spells in her repertoire. In Chapter 295, it is pointed out that Lolopechka cannot learn attack spells due to her inherent compassion. This prevents her from accessing the Saint Stage, a magic skill exclusive to spirit hosts. However, she excels in healing magic instead.

While Megicula and Vanica held Lolopechka captive, her bond with Undine momentarily ended. Though Lolopechka no longer embodied the spirit of Undine, she retained a vast amount of mana. Meanwhile, Megicula transformed her magic into Demon Water Magic, granting her the ability to manipulate her curse and transform into a Devil. However, upon being rescued, Lolopechka reconnected with Undine and renewed their contract.

Black Clover is now available to stream on Crunchyroll.
