Ichika and Captain Yami hail from the feared Yami Clan, a lineage of skilled assassins once called the “Kijin.” Their forebears earned their reputation by participating in countless battles throughout the era of conflict. In my perspective as an admirer, the father of Ichika and Captain Yami harbored a strong belief that their clan was of noble descent, yet found living in the secluded land governed by the Ryudo Family distasteful. Moreover, he exhibited a misogynistic attitude and had a drinking problem, viewing women, including his own daughter Ichika, as unnecessary within the Yami Clan. However, Captain Yami stood firm in defending his younger sister Ichika against such prejudiced views.

It was similarly assumed by their father that Captain Yami would one day become the strongest Kijin of the Clan. When Captain Yami was just 13 years old, Ichika found herself witnessing the gruesome scene of the massacred Yami Clan, with Captain Yami present. Yet, in Chapter 347, Ichika discovers this assumption was incorrect, and her anger and animosity toward Captain Yami were based on a misunderstanding.

During the battle against Yrul, a Paladin crafted by Lucius Zogratis, Yrul employs his Beast Magic to conjure Bogeymen. This Beast Magic stirs up the apprehensions and traumas of its victims, transforming them into those very fears. After being compelled by her father to consume the pill, Ichika’s physical prowess went out of control, leading her to lose her mental faculties; this was when Ichika ended up killing her entire Clan.
