Black Myth: Wukong – Four Banes Effect

Black Myth: Wukong - Four Banes Effect

As a seasoned gamer with countless hours spent navigating the treacherous lands of various gaming worlds, I must say that Black Myth: Wukong has truly captured my attention. The Survival skill tree, in particular, has intrigued me greatly, and I’ve found myself eagerly leveling up to unlock its hidden gems.

One of the most important skill trees in Black Myth: Wukong is the Survival skill tree, which can be invested in to increase the base stats of the player. While there are other ways of increasing your base stats, such as using Mind Cores, players should aim to greatly increase most of their base stats early on as they will serve as the foundation for your build.

As you progress through the levels, you’ll gain access to numerous survival skills. One of the initial ones you can acquire is called Bane Mitigation, which serves to lessen the duration of the Four Banes’ impact on you; here’s a breakdown of this skill and its function.

What Are The Four Banes In Black Myth: Wukong

Black Myth: Wukong - Four Banes Effect

The Four Banes are the four stats effects players will encounter throughout their journey.

  • Burn
  • Shock
  • Poison
  • Chill

Each Status effect will negatively impact the player in some way should they build up and go into effect, and Bane Mitigation focuses on how long the status effect stays active. In the bottom right of the screen under your health bar will be the status effect icon that will fill up as you are hit with attacks inflicting that status ailment. Once the icon is full, that Bane will go into effect until it is either healed or wears off. With each rank in Bane Mitigation, the duration all Banes are in effect will go down. While this helps deal with status effects, players can also increase their resistance to those effects to keep them from happening in the first place.

Soaks Various soaks can give brief boosts in status resistance for a short time after being used.
Armor Some armor pieces have additional status resistances on top of the defense.
Mind Cores Mind Cores can be spent to increase the player’s base resistance to a status effect.

Should You Invest Points In Bane Mitigation

Although temporarily activating these Banes might seem beneficial, there are more advantageous choices for your Spark points. It’s possible to counteract and heal from the effects of Banes once they’re activated, but the benefits of Bane Mitigation aren’t significant enough to justify spending a large number of Sparks on it. While Bane Mitigation does have several levels with the top level providing a discernible improvement, it’s not substantial enough to merit the quantity of Spark points required. Fortunately, if you did allocate some Spark points towards Bane Mitigation, they can be reallocated and used for a more beneficial skill instead.
