Black Myth Wukong Hardest Bosses

Black Myth Wukong Hardest Bosses

As a seasoned gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I must say that the fight against Erlang, The Sacred Divinity, is a challenge that only the bravest and most skilled dare to face. Having traversed countless worlds and vanquished countless foes, I can confidently say that this boss battle is one for the ages.

Game Science’s “Black Myth: Wukong” boasts an impressive collection of challenging bosses, amounting to a whopping 113 in total, including the optional mini-bosses.

Drawing significant influence from games in the ‘soulslike’ category and the renowned ‘God of War’ series, these intense battles require quick strategic thinking. You must cleverly employ all your resources to dodge an imminent demise.

The game’s bosses aren’t easy to defeat; in fact, some could challenge even experienced souls-like gamers due to their unpredictable moves or complex mechanics that require precise control.

If you take the time to understand their patterns of behavior and use your wits, traveling west may become less challenging. This guide aims to provide insights into their actions, serving also as a mini-navigation tool.

In a first-time gameplay, these bosses present challenges. However, should you encounter them again in the narrative or subsequent playthroughs like New Game+, their difficulty level decreases significantly due to the additional abilities and power you have acquired over time.

10 Wandering Wight

The Dark Souls Of First Bosses

Black Myth Wukong Hardest Bosses
Difficulty6/10
LocationChapter 1, Forest of Wolves, Outside the Forest
Boss TypeOptional
Reward x3, Blood of the Iron Bull, (Curio), (Spirit)

Kick-starting the adventure, you encounter the initial optional foe. Though he appears cumbersome, be cautious not to underestimate him, particularly if this is your first time playing. His attacks might seem straightforward, but they pack a punch, with sweeping moves, crushing stomps, and potent shockwaves that could halt your progression.

As a gamer, I soon found that the Wandering Wight served as my initial significant challenge. This formidable foe showcased the harsh consequences of carelessness in the game world.

With just a minimal set of tools at hand – basic attacks, a few gourd sips, and nothing more – you find yourself facing the Wandering Wight. Fortunately, his attacks are easily predictable, so to emerge victorious, simply keep your cool and use your resources prudently.

Following your victory over him, you’ll have the opportunity later on to assimilate his essence for gameplay purposes. This will grant you an passive boost of +20 defense and activate a swift head-butt attack when needed.

In Chapter 2, the last adversary you encounter is a formidable rodent-like creature known as a yaoguai. This beast aims to overpower you by unleashing powerful sweeps and sharp gusts of wind as its attacks.

Initially, he doesn’t present much resistance, but what makes him challenging is his ability to execute a commanding grab with a swift kick. Once he’s grabbed you, he thrusts downward, followed by a series of heavy stomps, causing significant harm.

When his health reaches approximately halfway, he’ll summon a fierce sandstorm, boosting his attack power and enabling him to swiftly dash across the battlefield.

Luckily, the optimal solution appears to be carrying out a covert operation aimed at defeating Fuban and seizing the Vessel.

Difficulty7/10
LocationChapter 2, Crouching Tiger Temple, Temple Entrance
Boss TypeOptional
Reward (Spell), (Key Item), , x2

Tiger Vanguard may not show off dazzling stunts, yet he remains a skillful martial artist and a ruthless adversary who can quickly turn your encounter into a deadly confrontation with a sharp sword.

As I stand before this monstrous adversary, bathed in a sea of crimson, his assault is as fierce as any tiger’s charge. This boss’s onslaught is unyielding, a merciless sequence of powerful blows – punches, kicks, and swift slashes of his deadly blade.

Every confrontation with the boss serves as a valuable learning experience, and this particular one emphasizes the importance of recognizing and countering enemy attack patterns, promptly dealing with any signs of overconfidence.

Keep an eye out for these two moves you should be aware of: Following his initial one-two punch sequence, he might perform a sweeping move that causes a decent amount of harm. This can become quite annoying, particularly when it seems like he has completed his attack series.

Another attack to be wary of is his sword attacks – he swipes twice and spins, swinging a delayed attack that is reminiscent of what you would see in many soulslikes, including (but not limited to) Elden Ring. Panic rolling can only take you so far.

7 Yin Tiger

Don’t Pick A Fight With The Blacksmith

Black Myth Wukong Hardest Bosses
Difficulty7/10
LocationZodiac Village, Village Entrance
Boss TypeOptional (Repeatable)
Rewards (Transformation), (Headgear), (Body), (Arms), (Legs), Extra Curio Slot

In the secluded part of Zodiac Village resides the local blacksmith, who works apart from his divine companions. He peacefully maintains his forge. You have the option to purchase and enhance armor and weapons from him, or test your mettle by issuing a challenge. To your surprise, he eagerly accepts any duel you propose.

With a colossal sword that outclasses any other bursting weapon, Yin Tiger’s powerful assaults hide his reserved character. Not only does he skillfully evade your attacks, but he can also deflect and accumulate them, building up energy in his blade to release catastrophic blows capable of shattering the ground beneath him.

His incredible speed is what makes this fight tough, as he can disappear and reappear anywhere. Don’t worry, though–even if you lose, he’s always ready for another friendly spar.

I face off against the treacherous Half-Centipede Monstrosity, the one who deceived the Queen and her kin, armed with venomous breath and an enchanted blade. This formidable foe has left countless gamers struggling in their quests.

In the second stage, it’s extremely challenging to battle the Two-Hundred-Eyed Daoist Master without a hidden artifact, as he drains your energy levels substantially and escalates his lightning-infused assaults.

Even with the help of the Spider guais, this boss is not to be trifled with. Not only that, he is an undeniably evil monster, making his defeat all the more satisfying.

5 Yaksha King

Boss TypeMain
Reward , , , x2, , Yaksha Armor Set, (Relic)

Following his victory over you, he snatches the Relic from your grasp and metamorphoses into the Nightmare, a terrifyingly designed and imposing demon, armed with fresh thorn-based assaults.

With a stunningly crafted soundtrack and deeply moving storyline, Yaksha’s battle is simply extraordinary. His attack sequences are unyielding, and his spike attacks are definitely not something to underestimate.

When he unleashes his most powerful move, he extends sharp spikes from his elbows, creating a series of five swift attacks that sweep across the entire battlefield, causing significant harm with every blow.

The battle against the Yaksha King is an incredibly tough one, and even with Zhu Bajie by your side who momentarily withdraws during the fight, victory is no easy feat. However, triumphing over him leaves you feeling a strange mix of emotions, as though advancing toward the reunion of Wukong’s Relics comes at the cost of leaving behind a fractured family.

4 Bishui Golden-Eyed Beast

A Savage Combination Of Fire And Ice.

Black Myth Wukong Hardest Bosses
Difficulty8/10
LocationChapter 5, Secret: Bishui Cave, Corridor of Fire and Ice
Boss TypeOptional; Secret
RewardSecret cutscene; x3, , , , ,

To get to this boss, you must finish the Five Elemental Carts quest first, which opens the path to the secretive Bishui Cave. This monster embodies raw ferocity, lashing out violently with its lethal claws and igniting the arena with fire. Its relentless attacks deal heavy damage and offer no respite.

If you’re finding it tough dealing with your current boss, consider these choices: Use an object to extinguish its fires, or allow it to shatter the ice wall, creating two additional battlefields. However, be aware that changing the type of damage it inflicts from fire to ice doesn’t necessarily make things easier; being frozen is just as challenging.

Overcoming the Bishui Beast doesn’t just bring multiple prizes your way, but also triggers a hidden scene that delves deeper into Red Boy’s sorrowful backstory.

3 Supreme Inspector

Talk To The Hand.

Difficulty9/10
LocationChapter 6
Boss TypeMain
Reward , , , (medicine formula), x2, x2

In Chapter 6, you and Zhu Bajie encounter an unexpected attack by a divine warrior known as Generalissimo Gi, who sports a single hand instead of a face, possesses lethal wings, and carries a flaming and lightning-wrapped blade.

As I step into the arena, I can feel the weight of every lesson I’ve gathered so far resting heavy on my shoulders. This silent foe doesn’t waste time with small talk; it unleashes Scorch and Thunder attacks that make me question every move I’ve made up until now. With a swift clawed kick or a thrust from its piercing wings, this boss is relentless in its pursuit to take me down.

His feathers can stiffen and serve as a protective barrier, thwarting any sequence of attacks you attempt. He calls forth flaming wheels for transportation; if you target him, his astonishing velocity may confound the camera, rendering this battle even more exasperating.

During the third stage, he surrounds the battlefield with a blazing ring of fire, boosting his attacks and increasing the difficulty level. The most effective strategy to handle this is by employing the Vessel obtained in Chapter 5; it will put out the flames, providing some much-needed respite.

Heaven isn’t pulling any stops, but if you beat him, you earn Wukong’s most iconic steed: his Somersault Cloud (or the Flying Nimbus if you’re a DragonBall fan).

2 The Great Sage’s Broken Shell

He Is Truly Equal To Heaven

Black Myth Wukong Hardest Bosses
Difficulty9/10
LocationChapter 6, Birthstone, Heart of Birthstone

RewardNG+ Unlocked, Blacksmith Upgrade unlocked

You’ve conquered every obstacle the game has presented, earning each piece of Wukong’s armor and artifacts in the process, gradually embodying the mighty celestial sage known as Equal to Heaven. Your next objective is to place the Birthstone and combine all the artifacts to continue Wukong’s powerful legacy.

Following your victory over him, you’re left standing against the empty husk that was once the Monkey King. Accompanied by an impressive reinterpretation of the original 1986 Journey to the West soundtrack and a stunning sunset, this encounter presents a breathtaking dual.

Wukong adapts the same combos you’ve mastered during your adventure, but executes them with greater grace and force. He dodges as you do, generates clones identical to yours, and even employs similar spells. Remember, this battle is against the original one and a half.

However, remember that he’s not just a one-trick pony–if you manage to defeat him initially, he has a hidden second act. In this phase, he siphons your powers to amplify his own attacks. The battle intensifies significantly, as his assaults become unyielding, and he taunts you throughout the fight, leaving you intrigued about what else he might have up his sleeve.

After you defeat him, you’ll finish the tale and be eligible to start a fresh adventure using New Game+ mode.

1 Erlang, The Sacred Divinity

His Third Eye Sees All

Black Myth Wukong Hardest Bosses
Difficulty10/10
LocationChapter 3, Secret: Mount Mei, Mei-Jian Peak
Boss TypeOptional; Secret
Reward(s) (Weapon), (transformation), , x2; True Ending unlocked

If you believe that the final boss of the game is the most challenging, then you haven’t encountered the true terror of battling Erlang, Wukong’s arch-nemesis from the original Journey to the West tale. In fact, Erlang, the Sacred Divinity, could very well be the hardest boss fight in the entire game, even during New Game Plus.

As a fellow enthusiast, once you’ve conquered the covert corners of Chapters 1 through 5, you’re ready for a showdown with Erlang anytime! Completing the Treasure Hunter Quest will also grant you entry to the imposing Great Pagoda in Chapter 3, unveiling the secret pathway to Mount Mei. That’s where Erlang can be found, waiting for our clash.

Compared to your initial battles, facing him during the start of the game felt like a walk in the park since you engaged him while playing as Wukong, against whom he has an even balance.

Regardless of being The Chosen One, battling Erlang turns out to be an enormous challenge due to the addition of a power gauge (stance meter) above his health bar. To immobilize him and inflict substantial harm, you must first deplete this gauge.

As a gamer, I can tell you that Erlang isn’t someone to underestimate. His three phases, each more challenging than the last, are filled with long combo chains using his celestial dog, freezing axe, and eye lasers. If you’re not on your toes, he’ll sweep the floor with you in no time.

Among various strategies for defeating Erlang, a particularly effective approach involves employing poison damage and specifically targeting his Stance Meter. This tactic efficiently chips away at his defenses.

Fighting him will result in an incredibly grand climax, yet I can’t reveal more details. It would be much better for you to witness the ensuing struggle firsthand.

Good luck. You’re going to need it.
