Black Myth: Wukong – Horse Guai Quest Walkthrough

Black Myth: Wukong - Horse Guai Quest Walkthrough

As a seasoned gamer with countless hours spent in various realms and dimensions, I can confidently say that the Horse Guai quest in Black Myth: Wukong has been one of my most intriguing adventures yet. The journey to find this elusive character spans across multiple chapters, each encounter filled with its own set of challenges and mysteries.

In the initial phase of “Black Myth: Wukong”, a character named Guai, who is also recognized as Ma Tianba, makes an appearance. This figure can be found by players throughout the game, but it’s not compulsory to engage with him. However, he has his own mission and dispenses the Dark Thunder Transformation upon its completion.

To advance to the next chapter, players should ensure they’ve explored every conversation possibility with the Horse Guai. This is crucial because completing this interaction might not always be possible, making it a quest that could be missed. If skipped in the current gameplay, players will need to redo it during their New Game Plus playthrough.

Black Myth Wukong: Horse Guai Quest Walkthrough

Chapter 1 (Bamboo Grove): Talk To Horse Guai Near Back Hills

After vanquishing Lingxuzi, I’ll find myself at the Back Hills Keeper’s Sanctum. From here, take the stairs downwards, and when you spot an enemy Yaoguai ahead, veer left into a cave. Inside, you’ll hear voices emanating, and there’ll be a Horse Guai on your right to chat with.

There is also a
Meditation Spot in this cave
to the left of the NPC.

Chapter 2 (Sandgate Village): Talk To Horse Guai Near The Village Entrance

As a fan, I’d guide you this way: From the Village Entrance Keeper’s Shrine, walk through the gates that lie ahead and veer left towards a modest structure. Keep an eye out, and you’ll spot Horse Guai tethered to one of the pillars nearby. Don’t forget to engage in conversation with him before moving on to the next part of your journey.

Upon their initial visit, players will discover that the gates are locked and they’ll have to navigate to the opposite side to unlock them.

Chapter 3 (New Thunderclap Temple): Talk To Horse Guai Near Mahavira Temple

In the New Thunderclap Temple, your destination is the Mahavira Hall Keeper’s Shrine. After visiting the shrine, spin around and head down the stairs. As you approach a building directly in front of you, veer right and descend the steps to another structure. Enter the building, avoiding any stationary foes with blindfolds, and ascend the staircase to reach the second floor. Once there, turn left to locate the Horse Guai standing by a swinging bell.

Chapter 4 (Webbed Hollow): Talk To Horse Guai Near Bonevault

Starting from the Keeper’s Shrine within Bonevault, take a left turn and follow the path that bends right to reach Centipede Guai’s battle arena. Post the boss encounter, veer left from the arena and continue along the path as it curves left. You will eventually come across a large cocoon; strike it a few times to initiate a cutscene. This action frees Horse Guai who was imprisoned within, allowing you to engage in conversation with him once the scene concludes.

Chapter 5: Defeat Keeper Of Flaming Mountains

Make your way through the book until you come across ‘Emerald Hall’. Here, you’ll encounter both the ‘Keeper of the Flaming Mountains’ and the ‘Ying Yang Fish’. To complete this stage, simply defeat these two bosses.

Chapter 5 (Furnace Valley): Interact With The Broken Element Cart Near Valley Entrance

Make a beeline for the Keeper’s Shrine at the Valley Entrance, avoiding the rock adversaries along the way. When you approach the shield enemy, descend into the lava region on your right. Continue along this path and you’ll notice Ma Tianba’s voice in the vicinity. Take care of the enemies surrounding the Element Cart and press the interact button to pull the lever.

As soon as you engage with the rope, you’ll gain the Transformation, which is known to be one of the best Transformations in Black Myth: Wukong.
