Black Myth Wukong: How To Beat Guangmou

As a seasoned adventurer who’s battled my share of formidable foes, I can confidently say that Guangmou, residing in the heart of the Bamboo Grove, is one of the most captivating and challenging bosses I’ve encountered so far in Black Myth: Wukong. His moveset, unlike any other enemy thus far, demands a strategic approach and quick reflexes.

Following your encounter with the intimidating initial boss in the eagerly awaited game similar to Souls, Black Myth: Wukong, you won’t have to wait long until you meet another formidable adversary known as Guangmou.

This boss resides in the heart of the Bamboo Grove, and has a moveset that makes for a much different challenge compared to Lingxuzi.

Yet, if you study Guangmou’s strategies ahead of time and master his moveset, you’ll soon find yourself victorious. Here are some tips on defeating this snake-charming foe, bringing you one step closer to resurrecting the Monkey King.

Guangmou is found in the Bamboo Grove. You will need to travel from the Back Hills through to the Snake Trail checkpoint. Then, you will need to complete the boss run to Guangmou.

From a fan’s perspective, this boss chase isn’t overly challenging. You’ll encounter a handful of Poison Lizards and some skeletal reptiles along the way, but if you’re keen on reaching the boss swiftly, you can largely bypass them by heading straight for your target.

In the open part of the forest, there is a stairway on your right side which ascends to Guangmou’s arena. Your combat starts as soon as you step in.

How To Prepare For Guangmou

Beyond your existing preparations for the Lingxuzi battle, there aren’t many additional safety measures you can implement before engaging in the Guangmou fight.

But just in case you haven’t upgraded your gear and skills ahead of time, here is what I would suggest prioritizing for this fight:

  • Craft the Pilgrim’s Armor Set at a checkpoint Shrine.
  • Consider awakening Sparks that increase your stamina
  • Consider increasing your engage distance
  • Consider increasing your immobilization spell damage and duration

To clarify, Guangmou stands out significantly from Lingxuzi and all the enemies you’ve encountered previously, given that their primary method for causing harm isn’t through physical assaults.

The fight initiates as Guangmou launches a blue fireball assault. If you skillfully dodge toward them, you’ll be able to slip beneath their trajectory, not only avoiding the attack but also landing some initial blows.

Following that, I recommend casting your stun spell, then take advantage of the opportunity for a few more attacks. If you execute these moves swiftly at the beginning, they’ll likely lose about 25% of their health almost instantly.

As a devoted admirer, I can’t help but anticipate the moment when Guangmou might unveil his hidden advantage – summoning his legion of serpents. These creatures will seemingly emerge from the earth, launching venomous projectiles that inflict damage upon contact and increase your poisoned state.

During this timeframe, it might be enticing to assault Guangmou, but it’s wiser to avoid engaging him directly and instead dodge frequently to sidestep his barrage of projectiles. Keep your focus on several snakes simultaneously and maneuver to dodge the poison attacks.

Among Guangmou’s various attacks, this one is undoubtedly the most hazardous, but they possess other risky maneuvers as well. For instance, their leaf attack emits a blue tracking projectile and blasts a gust of leaves. However, you can effortlessly dodge it by keeping mobile while it is active.

After that, Guangmou possesses a deadly breath weapon capable of causing rapid poisoning if you’re standing right in front of him. But if you manage to move behind him when he uses it, you’ll be out of danger and can strike back with greater safety.

1. In his storage space, all that Guangmou possesses are these moves, which he’ll keep repeating until you defeat him. A strategy I’d suggest is to maintain an aggressive approach during the fight, especially when the snakes aren’t involved, because Guangmou tends to escape by teleporting frequently. The snakes can be more hazardous from a distance, so it’s crucial to get closer.

Rewards For Defeating Guangmou

If you manage to defeat Guangmou, you will gain the following rewards for your efforts:

  • 521x Will
  • 2x Yarn
  • Blood of the Iron Bull
  • Guangmou (Spirit)

Among all these things, the most remarkable benefit is acquiring the novel skill to summon Guangmou’s Spirit, enabling players to conjure a horde of snakes for poisonous assaults on enemies, similar to how Guangmou once summoned them against you.

Following the victory over Guangmou, players can ascend the hill, toll the bell, and then move on to their next location within Black Myth: Wukong, known as The Marsh of White Mist.
