Black Myth: Wukong - How To Find & Beat Emerald Armed Mantis

As a seasoned adventurer who has braved countless trials and tribulations in the realm of Black Myth: Wukong, I must say that the fight against the Emerald Armed Mantis on Mount Huaguo was a true test of my mettle! This elusive foe, hidden within the belly of Zhu Bajie, is not for the faint-hearted.

In the opening scene of Chapter 6, players will set foot on Mount Huaguo. As they navigate towards the initial Keeper’s Shrine, they’ll run into numerous Celestial Soldiers patrolling the court. Following the shrine, a tough battle awaits: the Supreme Inspector boss, known as the Emerald Armed Mantis. This guide offers tips on locating the boss and tactics for defeating it, as it is one of the more difficult foes in Chapter 6 due to its swift movements and aggressive behavior.

To engage this boss battle, the player must first defeat the last three bosses on Mount Huaguo and collect all three pieces of Sun Wukong’s armor.

How To Find Emerald Armed Mantis

Starting from the sanctuary known as the “Green Way’s Guardian,” leap onto your agile Somersault Cloud and ascend to the left side. You’ll notice a solitary yellow tree standing in the center of a water expanse. Make your way towards this tree, which will initiate a scene featuring Black Myth: Wukong‘s character Zhu Bajie. Following this interaction, you’ll find yourself within the depths of Zhu Bajie, ready to engage in combat against the Emerald Armed Mantis.

If the players haven’t gathered all three legendary armor parts elsewhere, they won’t be able to activate the cutscene and will only be able to communicate with the Mantis-Catching Swamp Keeper’s Shrine in this location instead.

The boss’s arena is filled with blood and water. This does not affect the combat, but you can take advantage of it by equipping the Serpentscale Armor Set if you have upgraded it to at least Legendary. Its three-piece set bonus allows you to recover Stamina faster when in water. In addition, there is also a unique effect that slowly recovers your health whenever you are low on health, which is enhanced in water. If you would rather not use the , you can equip the Yaksha Armor Set for the 25% bonus damage.

In the initial stage, the formidable Emerald Armed Mantis utilizes basic attacks like Arm Slashes and Leaping Arm Strikes. This boss has rapid three to four-hit combos with minimal time between each attack, making evasion your top priority. Keep a keen eye as the Mantis can swiftly close gaps, even when you’re keeping a distance from it. Once approximately 30% of its health is depleted, a cutscene will commence during which the Mantis will smear its arms with blood.

Phase 2

In the second stage, the boss adopts various strategies, predominantly spinning and attempting to strike you with both arms. The sequences of attacks are prolonged, making it risky to counterattack throughout the series due to limited opportunity to evade. To inflict damage, it’s advisable to keep a distance behind the boss. However, doing so will prompt the boss to use its tail to smash you, causing you to fall. Around 30-40% of the boss’s health, it lets out a powerful roar and follows up with a rapid succession of attacks, creating illusory traces in the already poorly lit arena. These afterimages can cause further confusion in addition to the dimly lit fighting environment.

The Spirit artifact is a strong choice for Spirit, as it delivers significant damage at full cultivation level and provides additional defense when equipped.
