The highly anticipated game *Black Myth: Wukong* has partnered with McDonald’s in China for a special promotion. For a limited time, McDonald’s locations across China will offer menu items and merchandise inspired by the game, which is considered China’s first major AAA console title and one of the year’s biggest game releases.
McDonald’s frequently partners with popular brands, and they’ve often collaborated with major gaming franchises. A big draw of these partnerships is usually the special merchandise offered. Earlier this year, McDonald’s Japan’s *Pokemon* collectibles were so popular they were resold at inflated prices – something usually seen with new game consoles or graphics cards. Now, McDonald’s is adding to this trend with a limited-time promotion featuring *Black Myth: Wukong*.
Black Myth: Wukong and McDonald’s Come Together in an Intriguing Collab
McDonald’s China is partnering with the popular video game *Black Myth: Wukong* for the Mid-Autumn Festival. From September 20th to October 7th, customers can enjoy limited-time menu items – including a burger with a black bun – served in special packaging inspired by the game. Select McDonald’s locations in Shanghai, Hangzhou, Guangzhou, Beijing, Xiamen, Changsha, and Wuhan will host the ‘Full Moon Market’ event, offering phased activities and exclusive rewards. Additionally, a limited-edition *Black Myth* board game featuring characters from both the game and McDonald’s will launch on September 30th.
In a unique promotion, 42 McDonald’s restaurants in 14 cities across China are decorated with artwork from the popular game *Black Myth: Wukong*. Customers can collect trading cards featuring characters like Tian Ming Ren, Yang Jian, and Zhu Bajie, and trade them for a special phone sticker starting October 9th. A specific meal deal will also include a reversible themed robe, and other merchandise like hats, T-shirts, and socks will be available, according to reports from Daniel Ahmad and Renka_schedule.
Game Science has announced its next game, Black Myth: Zhong Kui, which will follow Black Myth: Wukong. The new title, revealed around the time of Wukong’s Xbox release, is based on another character from Chinese folklore and is the second game in the Black Myth series.
