On August 8, 2024, Treyarch revealed exciting innovations coming to Black Ops 6, including a novel mechanic called Augments. These enhancements offer an additional level of customization for gameplay, increasing players’ chances of surviving against the relentless hordes of undead enemies. Black Ops 6 Zombies Augments Explained
As an ardent fan, I’d say the Call of Duty blog refers to Augments as a “thrilling and imaginative personalization journey.” With Augments, players can tailor their preferred Perks, Field Upgrades, and Ammo Mods using a diverse range of modifiers, divided into Major and Minor categories.
In the game ‘Black Ops 6 Zombies’, players can discover and unlock a total of six augmentations, three major and three minor, for each Field Upgrade, Perk, and Ammo Mod. These augmentations allow players to customize these items according to their preferred playstyle. The minor augmentations provide a partial benefit that typically activates when an item is employed, while the major augmentations offer a more significant advantage as described by Treyarch when an item is in use.
How To Unlock Augments In Black Ops 6 Zombies
In the game Black Ops 6 Zombies, each type of Ammo Mod, Field Upgrade, and Perk has its own progression path called “Research Paths.” Before starting the game, players can view the list of available Augments by accessing a Research Path in the lobby.
To enjoy additional customization options by accessing more Augments in Black Ops 6, simply play Zombies mode on either the Terminus or Liberty Falls maps once the game launches on October 25th.

Melee Macchiato
- Minor Augment: Hidden Impact – Melee kills reload a portion of the weapon being held.
- Major Augment: Vampirism – Melee attacks heal 25 health points.
Shadow Rift
- Minor Augment: Targeted – Zombies that drop will fall on other Zombies.
- Major Augment: Explosive Rain – Zombies that are dropped from portals will explode when making contact with the ground.
Dark Flare
- Minor Augment: Heavy Shadow – Movement speed of Zombies is slowed when they are hit with the beam.
- Major Augment: Shadow Ball – A sphere that damages nearby enemies and detonates replaces the standard beam.
Prior to the launch of “Call of Duty: Black Ops 6”, Treyarch might disclose additional information about Augments during the COD Next event scheduled for August 28. Notably, this event coincides with the commencement of the groundbreaking beta on the same day.
