Black Ops 6 devs confirm Jackal PDW nerf with another SMG set to take its place

As a seasoned gamer with countless hours under my belt, I can confidently say that the Jackal PDW SMG has been the bane of my existence during this Black Ops 6 beta. Its rapid-fire capabilities and synergy with the new Omnimovement system made it an unstoppable force on the battlefield. However, it seems Treyarch have heard our cries for balance and are taking steps to tame this beast.

As a thrilled enthusiast, I’m excited about the resumption of the Black Ops 6 beta this coming September 6! Treyarch has shared some exciting news – they’re planning a tune-down for the Jackal PDW SMG that’s been ruling the first few days. Can’t wait to see how the gameplay balance shifts!

During the beta, not every BO6 gun was shown, but we still got a glimpse of how the game’s meta might shape up on its launch day. Quickly, in multiplayer sessions, it became apparent that the Jackal PDW stood out as the top weapon among players.

As a seasoned gamer, I found myself wielding an unassuming Level 20 unlock that soon took the spotlight in the beta. This gun, with its lightning-fast Time-to-Kill and the game-changing Omnimovement feature, was an unstoppable force on Black Ops 6’s tighter maps, making me a formidable opponent to face.

However, with the start of the Open Beta, giving non-pre-order players a chance to try out the game, Treyarch has announced that they’ve adjusted (or balanced) the Submachine Gun (SMG), making it less powerful.

In a post discussing all the fresh content planned for weekend two, developers announced adjustments (tuning) to the Jackal to reduce its power. They also suggested that players might want to give the popular SMG a rest and try out some of the newly introduced weapons instead.

Lastly, let’s switch things up for a bit and use the Tanto .22 fully automatic SMG instead of the Jackal PDW (which has been optimized for Weekend 2 by the way), starting at level 30.

The specifics of the PDW’s modification remain unclear, but it’s anticipated that its damage output might decrease, thereby increasing the time to kill. Alternatively, they may alter its shooting behavior by enhancing its recoil for a more difficult handling experience.

To find out precisely how they’ve concluded the Jackal’s reign of terror, we’ll need to hold off until the complete set of weekend updates (patch notes) arrives.

If you’re in search of a fresh weapon to assume its role, the Open Beta increases the character level limit to 30 and introduces firearms such as the Tanto .22. This SMG created quite a stir at Call of Duty Next, leaving lobbies in ruins, so we anticipate it to seamlessly fill the void left by the Jackal.

Instead, consider trying out another weapon from your inventory, such as the C9 Submachine Gun or the Marine Service Shotgun.
