Black Ops 6 players beg for bigger maps after “terrible” beta selection

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades under my belt, I must say that Black Ops 6 has been an interesting rollercoaster ride so far. The gameplay mechanics are top-notch, and the Omnimovement and Sleeper Agent Field Upgrade have added a fresh twist to the familiar CoD formula. However, the maps in the beta have left me scratching my head.

Players generally find the Black Ops 6 beta enjoyable, yet the initial collection of maps presented have garnered significant critique. Some users even describe them as inferior compared to past Call of Duty games.

Following the Open Beta’s debut, allowing many individuals their initial taste of Black Ops multiplayer, there has since been a massive influx of players diving into Treyarch’s latest multiplayer offering. Since then, discussions have been raging among players over aspects such as the new Omnimovement and Sleeper Agent Field Upgrade, but it’s the maps that have received the most criticism.

In the beta version, there are only five fundamental maps offered, which means players who’ve been persistently leveling up to Level 30 have grown quite familiar with these maps. Upon CharlieIntel requesting the community to share their ratings of the overall experience, fans didn’t hesitate to voice their opinions.

In the feedback, many responses commended the game’s mobility and shooting mechanics, but the maps were frequently criticized as problematic. Several players gave Black Ops 6 a score between five and six out of ten, expressing concern that the “poorly designed” maps were hindering the overall experience.

Metaphor, a well-known streamer, commented that the game is fantastic overall, but the maps this year leave much to be desired. Another player echoed this sentiment, stating that these maps rank among the poorest they’ve encountered in a Call of Duty game.

the game is so good but honestly the maps are not it this year, hopeful for Warzone integration as this game has the most satisfying gameplay loop i’ve personally played out of any CoD ( didnt play jetpack cods ) 8/10

On Reddit, ‘Samz707’ expressed a similar opinion, stating that the maps in the beta were less than satisfactory due to their smaller size. Among the released maps so far, Scud is one of the largest, whereas others like Babylon and Skyline are designed for close-range combat with minimal long-distance viewing spots.

The original post noted that Treyarch stated they didn’t have intentions for expansive maps, but perhaps it’s time for them to reconsider. Specifically in the map ‘Gala’, there can be a chaotic situation where players respawn close to their opponents and end up dying repeatedly without getting a chance to play effectively.

Many users expressed dissatisfaction about the map designs being too compact in their comments, with one user specifically requesting for a few larger ones. They suggested that the maps shouldn’t be overly large, but they didn’t want the entire 16-map playlist to consist of maps that are overly challenging, or as they put it, “meat grinder maps.

Indeed, we’ve had a chance to test just a few of the maps available in Black Ops 6 at launch, but more will be added later through updates. Unfortunately, it seems that the current selection hasn’t been well-received by fans yet.

As a devoted fan, I’ve encountered more than just one challenge in Black Ops 6. Many others have voiced concerns about the game’s spawn points, pleading for their improvement. Additionally, there’s been a call for the reinstatement of post-match voice chat, which has been missed by quite a few of us.
