As a seasoned Zombies veteran who has survived countless hordes of undead in various iterations of Call of Duty, I can confidently say that the Ammo Mods in Black Ops 6 have added a whole new layer of strategy to the already complex gameplay. These upgraded bullets, each with their unique effects, have given me an edge in my battles against the relentless zombie hordes.
In Black Ops 6, Ammo Modifications enhance the Zombies mode by offering enhanced bullet types, each with unique effects. Players who spend their Salvage on customizing Ammo Mods can expect unpredictable benefits to their weapon functionality, similar to the system when re-upgrading a weapon in Black Ops 3 or consuming Elemental Pop drinks.
In “Black Ops 6” Zombies, five types of Ammo Mods were available upon release, each capable of dealing significant damage against the relentless zombie swarms in both Terminus and Liberty Falls, enabling players to reach high rounds. However, some Ammo Mods perform better than others, so here’s a suggested tier list for optimal use.
5 Brain Rot
Turn a Hostile Zombie into an Ally
- Unlocked at Level 27
- Bullets deal toxic damage. Each bullet has a chance to temporarily turn a normal or special enemy into an ally.
Utilizing “Brain Rot” can create a potent advantage, summoning a fierce, dual-edged ally: a zombie that targets other zombies rather than the player. This zombie is invulnerable to damage inflicted by the player and solely concentrates on eliminating hostile entities. However, the capriciousness of “Brain Rot” means there are still many aspects left uncertain.
A Brain Rot victim is a lot of fun, especially if a special enemy like a Mangler is targeted. However, this special zombie might actually get in the way of a train or disrupt its flow by killing in abundance, so it could be a tad risky.
4 Cryo Freeze
Frost Bullets and Freeze Zombies in Place, Making Them Take More Damage
- Unlocked at Level 14
- Bullets deal frost damage. Each bullet has a chance to slow a normal or special enemy and increase the damage they receive.
Using Cryo Freeze is ideal for gamers aiming to create a frosty apocalypse, as it literally slows down and freezes zombies upon being struck by bullets. Once frozen, these zombies become vulnerable to increased damage, providing an opportunity to launch attacks against mini-bosses and common zombies that have been affected by the intense cold.
As a fan, I find Cryo Freeze incredibly useful for momentarily halting zombies and hostile enemies by encasing them in ice. However, this technique isn’t ideal when dealing with massive hordes as it can hamper progress and cause disruptions, especially if a few frozen zombies are left stranded on a train, creating obstacles.
3 Napalm Burst
Fire Bullets and Randomly Burn Zombie Types
- Unlocked at Level 6
- Bullets deal fire damage. Each bullet has a chance to apply a burn effect on normal and special enemies, dealing damage over time.
The Napalm Burst isn’t particularly unique in terms of its structure, serving primarily for aggressive strategies. However, what sets it apart is the enhancement it offers to player’s weaponry – every bullet fired from this tool can inflict burn damage on opponents.
In a simpler phrasing, the ability of Napalm Burst is that it can ignite enemies, causing them to burn and gradually lose health as players maneuver around the swarming zombies. While it may not appear as thrilling at first glance, when used effectively, it demonstrates great power.
2 Shadow Rift
Shadow Bullets and Spawn Small Gersh Device-Like Black Holes
- Unlocked at Level 44
- Bullets deal shadow damage. Each bullet has a chance to spawn a black hole on a normal or special enemy, warping away those nearby and dropping some from the air at lethal speed.
In the thrilling game of Black Ops 6 Zombies, Shadow Rift serves as an entertaining and whimsical Ammo Mod. It presents an unpredictable scenario where a bullet may create a miniature black hole. This black hole has a tendency to pull in zombies, much like the Gersh Device does, before launching them from the sky, on a destructive path towards their imminent second doom.
In Shadow Rift, you’ll find an impressive feature: it can vacuum up mini-boss zombies such as Manglers. If fortune favors you, your gaming experience with Shadow Rift will be fantastic, especially considering its Augment enhancements that enable frequent usage of the black holes to divert enemies and create some breathing room for yourself.
1 Dead Wire
Electric Bullets and the Ability to Stun Zombies
- Bullets deal electric damage. Each bullet has a chance to stun a normal or special enemy, causing them to generate an electric damage field.
In the game Terminus, the unseen wire, known as Dead Wire, plays a vital role in two covert missions. Players will require Dead Wire not only to obtain a complimentary version of the Beamsmasher, but also for an attempt at random loot with the Void Cannon’s hidden Easter egg. Beyond its utility for mission advancement, Dead Wire is useful for stunning and slowing down zombies, as well as firing electrical orbs to intensify damage on these undead foes.
The Dead Wire is fantastic for inflicting stun and electric damage on zombies and mini-bosses, especially since it can create a potent electrical field to slow them down even more. This makes it perfect for extended rounds of gameplay where a standard Tier 3 weapon no longer instantly defeats the enemies.
