Black Ops 6’s camo grind removes most time-consuming step

As someone who has spent countless hours grinding for camo challenges in Modern Warfare 2 and 3, I can confidently say that Treyarch’s decision to remove weapon leveling requirements for Black Ops 6 is a game-changer! Gone are the days of burning through Double Weapon XP Tokens while sitting in Hardpoints all day, just to tick off a camo challenge.

In Black Ops 6, the camouflage grinding process is back and more expansive than ever. You can now unlock Mastery Camos not only in multiplayer and Zombies but also in Warzone. Good news for players: a Treyarch developer recently confirmed that one of the most labor-intensive parts of camo grinding has been eliminated.

In a tweet on August 29th, Lawrence Metten from Treyarch announced that there are no weapon leveling requirements for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 camouflages. This means you can dive straight into the camo challenges once you’ve unlocked a weapon without needing to reach a specific level first.

The developer also clarified the method for acquiring the Mastery Camouflage. Each weapon progresses through three levels, and nine camouflages are earned by achieving headshot targets. After that, two unique camouflages can be unlocked through specific challenges. However, the exact way to get the Mastery Camouflages is still uncertain at this point.

BO6 Camos don’t have any Weapon Leveling requirements

For me at least, it was actually leveling up the weapons that made MW2 and MW3’s camo grind take so long. I’d be burning through a mountain of Double Weapon XP Tokens while throwing Decoy Grenades, collecting every Dogtag in Kill Confirmed, and sitting in the Hardpoints all day. Sure, my team probably loved me, but I’d spend 90% of my time doing this only to tick off the camo challenge in a game or two.

With Black Ops 6, you can immediately begin tackling the camo challenges upon unlocking a weapon, streamlining the process significantly and saving more of your time, even if you’re working with a gun generally considered subpar.

The only thing that could slow it down is if there are attachment-specific camo challenges. For example, you might need Akimbo Pistol kills for one of the camos but can’t unlock the Akimbo attachment until Weapon Level 20.

Let’s be patient and observe the complexity of the camouflage tasks, but it’s guaranteed that you won’t need to upgrade all weapons to their maximum level in order to access the camouflages.
