BLAST.tv Austin Major Regional Qualifiers Information

Due to the choice of conducting the Major Regional Qualifiers digitally, the MRQs for the Americas and Asia will be divided into smaller regions to minimize significant lag problems. It’s not unexpected that tournament organizers are seizing this opportunity since Valve included online qualifiers as an option in their Major rulebook this year.

In Europe, the ten highest ranked teams as per Valve Regional Standings receive direct invitations to either Stage 2 or Stage 3 of the Major. The following sixteen teams (starting from number 11) will battle it out in the European Minor Qualifier (MRQ). This qualifier consists of a Swiss format, where teams play best-of-three matches to advance or be eliminated. The top six teams that progress through this stage will secure their spot in Stage 1 of the Major. The European MRQ is scheduled for April 14-17.

Here are five American teams will receive direct invitations to the Major. The qualifying process (MRQ) in the Americas will be split into a North American and a South American portion. Each section will feature an eight-team group stage, made up of top teams from their respective regions, excluding the already invited American teams. Three teams from each region will advance to Stage 1 of the Major. The qualifiers for the Americas are scheduled for April 15-17.

In summary, only the first-place team from Asia will receive a direct pass to the Major tournament. The Asian Minor Qualifiers (MRQ) will be divided into three groups: China, Oceania/Southeast Asia, and Mongolia/Western Asia. Each group will use a four-team double elimination bracket system. The sub-region with the best team will send two teams to Stage 1, while the other regions will each send one team. The Asian MRQs are scheduled for April 15th to 17th.
