Blizzard Co-Founder’s New Studio is Publishing Lynked and Preparing to Announce First Game

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of gaming under my belt, I can’t help but feel a sense of nostalgia and anticipation when it comes to Dreamhaven. The man behind Blizzard Entertainment, Mike Morhaime, is now leading this new venture, and while they may not be aiming for the grandeur of a Blizzard game, the quality bar remains high.

In 2020, Dreamhaven was introduced by Mike Morhaime, a co-founder of Blizzard Entertainment. Currently, this somewhat enigmatic company boasts over 100 employees and is getting ready to reveal its inaugural in-house game creation.

In the meantime, it has been revealed that the firm is publishing Lynked: Banner of the Spark, which was recently showcased during Gamescom’s Opening Night Live ceremony.

Dawn of Dreamhaven

As a passionate gaming enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that Jason Schreier from Bloomberg has spilled the beans! It turns out that Dreamhaven, led by Mike Morhaime, is the publisher behind Lynked: Banner of the Spark – an exciting, fresh cooperative action game. This title boasts captivating city-building aspects and vibrant combat sequences that I can’t wait to dive into!

Back in 1991, Morhaime teamed up to establish Blizzard Entertainment. When he spoke with Bloomberg, Morhaime drew a parallel between Blizzard and Dreamhaven.

Initially, when we embarked on Blizzard, our knowledge was quite limited. However, this current leadership team brings a wealth of experience to the table.

In the coming month, Dreamhaven will reveal a fresh game created by Secret Door, a team helmed by none other than Chris Sigaty, a former Blizzard employee. Prior to this role, Sigaty was the lead producer for StarCraft II.

According to Bloomberg’s report, Dreamhaven has openly acknowledged the challenges it has experienced since its inception. The past four years have been particularly tough for the gaming industry due to COVID-19 and economic difficulties affecting the broader market. As a result, Secret Door’s game release was delayed beyond internal expectations.

According to Sigaty, it’s expected that Secret Door’s debut game, funded by Dreamhaven, will be released next year. However, due to having a smaller team and more limited resources, there might be adjustments made to this release schedule.

In a quote about the future of Dreamhaven’s titles, Morhaime said:

These games won’t likely match the scale of a Blizzard production, but our aim for quality remains unchanged. We’re still committed to delivering top-notch, well-crafted games that players will cherish, delight in, and be eager to share with their peers.
