For weeks, fans have been speculating and watching a countdown clock, eager for news from Bloober Team. The studio, known for games like the Silent Hill 2 remake and Cronos: The New Dawn, has finally revealed the next installment in the Layers of Fear series. Layers of Fear was Bloober Team’s very first game, and to celebrate its upcoming 10th anniversary, they’ve given fans a first look at Layers of Fear 3.
Bloober Team has been consistently delivering successful and well-received games, like their remake of Silent Hill 2 and the new horror game Cronos: The New Dawn. Many fans were hoping a recent countdown would reveal new content for Silent Hill 2, potentially the Born From A Wish DLC, or even a remake of the classic horror game Rule of Rose. Instead, Bloober Team surprised everyone by announcing another installment in the Layers of Fear series, returning to the psychological horror that first made them known.
Layers of Fear 3 “The Sick Rose” Announcement Trailer
After a countdown ended on February 14th, Bloober Team surprised fans with a 10th anniversary video for Layers of Fear, which also revealed Layers of Fear 3. The announcement, titled “The Sick Rose” after a poem by William Blake, featured a live actor reciting the poem. Bloober Team had previously shared this same poem on their website, leading some to speculate about a possible remake of Rule of Rose due to the rose imagery. When it became clear the countdown wasn’t about a remake, fans wondered what Bloober was planning. Now that Layers of Fear 3 is confirmed, people are eager to see how William Blake’s “The Sick Rose” will be incorporated into the new psychological horror game.

Fans of the Layers of Fear series, which often explores the minds of troubled artists, are intrigued by the use of a sad poem in the latest teaser. It’s unclear if the teaser’s imagery – like the unsettling red hourglass and the gentleman shown – actually reveals details about Layers of Fear 3’s story or appearance. However, the teaser did include familiar artwork and symbols from the first two games. The video concludes with the line “the door won’t stay closed,” and Layers of Fear 3 uses a tagline taken directly from two lines of a poem by William Blake: “Some things never leave the walls. They only learn to wait.”
Horror fans are already buzzing with theories about the meaning behind some recent lines, trying to figure out if they’re early story clues for Layers of Fear 3 or just a clever trick by Bloober Team. Bloober Team currently has several projects in the works, including a remake of the original Silent Hill, a Switch 2 exclusive called “Project M,” and a co-developed game known as “Project F.” Now, Layers of Fear 3 has been officially confirmed as well. Whether you enjoy psychological or survival horror, Bloober Team has a lot of exciting content on the horizon, from the recent Cronos: The New Dawn update to these mysterious, unannounced projects. Players can stay updated on Layers of Fear 3 and all of Bloober Team’s other games as more information becomes available.
