Octopath Traveler II has a lot of hidden surprises. For example, with a little effort, you can get a large ship, The Queen Orsa, without spending any money.
You’ve probably noticed some blue chests during your travels, but they all seem to be locked. Simply being a thief won’t open them – you’ll need to find another way to unlock these chests.
Let’s break down how to crack open all those shiny blue chests in Octopath Traveler 0.
How to Unlock Blue Chests

Blue chests aren’t available to open right away; you’ll have to wait a bit. Unlocking them is tied to completing the ‘Rekindling the Flame’ quest, which involves restoring the town of Wishvale.
During this quest, you’ll find former residents of Wishvale and help them return to their town. You’ll need to reach town level 6 before you can unlock the ability to open blue chests.
Complete the Rekindling the Flame questline all the way through. You’ll know you’ve finished when you’ve constructed the church and performed the Azure Flame Ceremony.
Once your town reaches level 6, you’ll be able to upgrade the church. Use all of your Radiant Cornerstones to upgrade it to the maximum level.
If you don’t have enough Radiant Cornerstones to upgrade your church, you’ll need to find more by defeating powerful enemies throughout the game world.
Okay, so I finally maxed out my church, and now it’s awesome! Apparently, that unlocks the ability to open those cool blue chests I’ve been seeing all over the map. I can’t wait to see what’s inside!
