In the latest installment of “Blue Exorcist: The Blue Night Saga,” we delve deeper into Shiro and Yuri’s past experiences. This episode uncovers a significant revelation about Mephisto, shedding light on his attempts to produce numerous replicas of the Demon King, aiming to discover a suitable vessel for Lucifer.

Shiro, too, is a clone, and when he faced off against Mephisto, he asked to be turned into an Exwire. This season’s plot has become even more complex, leaving viewers in awe of the superb storytelling. Coupled with stunning and polished animation, it’s clear that this season of Blue Exorcist is reaching its pinnacle.

The Truth Unveils

Shiro Challenges Mephisto

At the outset of this scene, I find myself witnessing Rin observing Shiro engaged in conversation with Mephisto. It appears that Shiro yearns to transform into an Exwire, seeking his independence, yet he vehemently rejects the idea of serving as a body duplicate for Lucifer. Every fifteen years, an Exwire is expected to emerge from each subject group, and Shiro believes himself to be a fitting candidate for this role.

Choosing to be an Exwire implies that his experimental procedures will lessen, while opting for Paladinhood may lead to acquiring wealth and authority over time. However, Shiro firmly refuses to serve as a sacrificial lamb for the sake of humanity’s survival.

Mephisto argues that becoming a Paladin won’t make him free; instead, it could put his life at risk as a kind of pledge. Moreover, it’s worth noting that every individual who tried to become a paladin in the past experiments failed, and even if he succeeds, he would essentially be a slave to the true order.

The Dark Truth That Asylum Hides

As the story unfolds, Mephisto eventually discloses to Rin that the Asylum, presented as a home and training ground for orphans to become exorcists, serves a different purpose. Beneath it lies a secret laboratory called Section 13, which creates vessels for demon lords. This revelation means Mephisto has been deceiving them all along, adding an utterly shocking twist to the plot. Mephisto further explains that his actions were orchestrated to buy time for Lucifer, who is in a weak state.

In an upcoming segment, Rin and Mephisto make a trip to see Lucifer. Researchers are tirelessly endeavoring to sustain Lord Lucifer’s life, administering various potions and medications. When Rin discovers that these grotesque experiments were aimed at preserving Lucifer’s existence, she is taken aback. However, despite their horrific nature, the experiments proved necessary as they were a dark necessity; for if Lucifer obtains the flawless body he craves, there would be no one to halt his fury.

Mephisto discloses that numerous clone bodies have been manufactured as vessels for Lucifer, yet none of these attempts were successful. As a result, they created elixirs to grant Lucifer eternal life. Extracting these elixirs from the clones, however, was an excruciating process that Shiro endured. Witnessing the cruelty inflicted upon Shiro was deeply distressing.

Yuri And Shiro Reunite

As Rin steps outside, he encounters a situation where he’s right in the thick of an ongoing battle to expel a Demon. Here, we see a more mature Yuri, being groomed to be an Exorcist. The Exorcists and Exwires show up, and Shiro is part of the group. Upon seeing him, Yuri eagerly moves towards him, but Shiro brusquely warns her to keep her distance.

When the Demon appears, everyone attempts to subdue him, but it’s Shiro who steals the spotlight, demonstrating his extraordinary abilities and bravely tackling the Demon alone. Despite his immense power, he remains fiery-tempered, ruthlessly slaying harmless creatures known as Greenmen, which deeply distresses Yuri. As the episode draws to a close, we also witness blue flames, a sign that, if you recall, symbolizes Satan.

Yet Another Amazing Episode

In this episode, it’s clear that Shiro has consistently demonstrated strength and competence throughout his life, despite its hardships. Remarkably, he strived to avoid sharing a fate with the other clones. Furthermore, it was revealed that Mephisto’s cruel experiments, though inhumane, were crucial for the world’s survival.

The sequence of events during Shiro’s fight with the Demon is skillfully choreographed and visually stunning, while the animation remains top-notch. The voice acting was impressive, particularly in the delivery of Shiro’s voice actor, who convincingly conveyed Shiro’s irritability and hostility.
