FromSoftware is now planning to release the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Elden Ring in 2026. As a result, the extra items included with the new ‘Tarnished Edition‘ will also be delayed on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4.
The new update adds two new character classes – the Knight of Ides and the Heavy Knight – plus more armor and ways to customize your horse, Torrent. PlayStation 5 and 4 players will get these additions in a special ‘Tarnished Pack’ when the game comes out on Nintendo Switch 2, but the release of that pack has been delayed until next year.
It isn’t known if this DLC pack will be a free add-on or paid for.
The game developer announced on social media that they need additional time to improve how the game runs. Reports earlier this year showed that Elden Ring experienced performance issues on the Switch 2, especially when played in handheld mode.
The delay is likely to allow Elden Ring to run more smoothly on the upcoming Switch 2 console, which is expected next year. FromSoftware apologized for the inconvenience, stating they are working to ensure the game is in the best possible condition for release and appreciate players’ understanding and patience.
These extra items and features will now be added to Elden Ring on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 sometime in 2026.
