In the upcoming Borderlands 4, gamers are getting a sneak peek at one of the highly anticipated sequel’s new Vault Hunters – the close-combat focused Exo-Soldier, Rafa. With its release just around the corner this year, Gearbox Software is stirring excitement among fans by unveiling significant changes to the Borderlands series. For the first time in the franchise, players will find themselves on a completely new planet, meeting fresh characters and encountering novel weapon manufacturers. Now, another key character’s gameplay is being showcased.
In addition to the numerous changes being made to the traditional structure of the franchise, Borderlands 4 introduces a fresh set of four characters for players to select: Rafa the Exo-Soldier, Vex the Dark Siren, Harlowe the Gravitar, and Amon the Forge Knight. Gearbox has started to share some information about the playable cast in Borderlands 4, with an earlier trailer highlighting Vex’s gameplay. Now, the second Vault Hunter from Borderlands 4 is being spotlighted through a separate gameplay demonstration.
In the latest “Beyond the Borderlands” video for Borderlands 4, players receive additional insights into how the new character, Rafa the Exo-Soldier, will perform. It’s revealed that Rafa is heavily reliant on melee attacks as a primary source of damage, using his Arc Knives to engage in close combat. During battle, Rafa can use his Arc Knives Action Skill to switch to a third-person view and swiftly navigate through enemies, delivering deadly strikes. The video also offers further information about Rafa’s “Peacebreaker Cannons” Remote Agent, which enables him to deploy a rapid-fire turret that targets enemies in conjunction with the player.
Borderlands 4 Reveals Rafa Gameplay
Rafa’s demonstration offers numerous suggestions for players to tailor their character’s unique setup. Enhancements on Arc Knives enable players to modify Rafa’s dash attack, including switching its damage type, such as corrosive damage. Additionally, the Peacebreaker Cannons can be replaced with diverse weapon options like shotguns or lasers. Remarkably, one of the game developers shares his own experimental build for Rafa that emphasizes grenades, granting players the option to wield two grenades in battle.
As the countdown to the release of Borderlands 4 continues, it’s clear that Gearbox has plenty more exciting reveals in store for eager fans. Two of the game’s Vault Hunters, Harlowe and Amon, are yet to have their full unveiling, with their introductions expected soon. Additionally, several familiar characters from previous games such as Claptrap and Mad Moxxi, along with others, have been confirmed to make a comeback in Borderlands 4.
