Borderlands 4 Has Revived a Playstyle in Me That I Thought Was Dead and Gone

I’ve been completely hooked on Borderlands 4 since it came out, and I’m still playing it constantly! Luckily, I haven’t run into the performance problems some other PC players have been experiencing, so my gameplay has been really smooth. Honestly, I’m enjoying this installment even more than Borderlands 2 – the story is great, the combat is some of the best in the series, and I especially love the character Kairos.

Kairos is easily a highlight of *Borderlands 4* for me. I’ve always been okay with big game maps being revealed early, so I was already looking forward to it. But even still, I didn’t expect to enjoy it *this* much. It’s actually brought back a way of playing that I thought I’d lost interest in years ago.

Borderlands 4 Has Revived the Completionist in Me

I Was Once an Avid Completionist

I used to be the type of gamer who had to complete everything in a game, no matter how long it took or how unimportant the tasks were. Whether it was an *Assassin’s Creed* or *Zelda* game, if there were extra things to find or do beyond the main story, I’d do them all. But having kids changed that. Suddenly, my free time became much more valuable, and I just couldn’t justify spending hours on tasks that didn’t really matter.

I mostly game at night, after my family goes to bed, and that’s how I prefer it. I like being present with them when they’re awake, so I have to make the most of my gaming time. This means my Steam library is filled with shorter games that have compelling stories, and I often don’t finish longer, more involved titles. However, the new *Borderlands 4* content, Kairos, has sparked a desire to truly finish a game. I’m still prioritizing my family, but I’m now willing to invest as much time as it takes to complete everything Kairos offers, because I’m really enjoying it.

Borderlands 4 Makes Me Want to Complete and Collect Everything

Borderlands 4 is packed with things to do – the main story, tons of side quests, collectibles, and just exploring the world. I’ve already spent 20 hours playing and I’m only about 15% through the main campaign, which gives you an idea of how I play. Like I used to before having kids, I like to fully explore each area and complete everything before moving on. It’s not just about completing a checklist, though; it’s really satisfying to experience everything a location has to offer.

In *Borderlands 4*, doing side quests and optional activities is really rewarding. You can get great gear, special tokens, learn more about the game’s world, and even uncover details about your character’s past, all while gaining experience points. I was able to max out my inventory space and drastically improve my ammo capacity for most weapons in just 10 hours because the game makes these extra efforts worthwhile. I plan to take my time and enjoy everything *Borderlands 4* has to offer, playing a little bit each night until I’ve completed it all.
