Borderlands 4 Holiday Event Has Absurd Legendary Drop Dates

The new Season’s Lootings event is now live in Borderlands 4, and it’s making it much easier to find powerful Legendary items! Until January 8, 2026, the chances of getting Legendary loot are significantly increased. Plus, Gearbox has activated three Big Encore Bosses simultaneously, giving the developers a well-deserved break during the holidays.

Since releasing Borderlands 4, Gearbox has been working to maintain player engagement with regular in-game events on the planet Kairos. However, the results have been uneven. While the game started strong, player numbers have decreased, leading some to wonder if Gearbox made the right choices with this installment. The Halloween event, in particular, received criticism, with many players finding it repetitive and the rewards unfulfilling. Gearbox is hoping the new holiday event will improve things by reducing the grind in a key part of Borderlands 4.

Borderlands 4 Season’s Lootings Event Increases Legendary Drop Rate By Up To 5x

Gearbox announced that a new in-game event for Borderlands 4, called Season’s Lootings, is now live and will run until January 8, 2026. During the event, players have a five times greater chance of finding Legendary items – except when fighting Big Encore Bosses and Bloomreaper. This is a great opportunity for players trying to complete their builds or those who want to start collecting Legendaries for future characters before the event ends. Gearbox says that while the increased drop rate is significant, Legendary items will still be rare enough to feel rewarding.

To wrap up the year, Gearbox has added three challenging bosses to Borderlands 4 that will be available until January 8th. This allows the development team to enjoy a well-deserved holiday break. Weekly boss rotations and other activities will resume as usual starting January 8th. They’ve also fixed an issue that allowed players to earn rewards for the hardest difficulty mode even in easier fights. This update gives the team some time off before they start working on the big Borderlands 4 content planned for 2026.

2026 looks like a huge year for Borderlands 4. While the number of players might be going down, it doesn’t mean people have lost interest. Many have already finished the main game and are waiting for compelling new content to return. While smaller events are good for keeping current players engaged, major content updates are what will really bring players back. Next year, Gearbox is adding a new playable character, C4SH, and a story expansion called Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned. This new content should reignite excitement for the latest Borderlands game.
