Summary

The forthcoming Borderlands 4 game won’t be resurrecting every weapon manufacturer that appeared in earlier installments of the series. The upcoming title has generated much excitement among fans of Gearbox’s cooperative first-person shooter franchise since its announcement, and now they’ve received a detailed glimpse into what lies ahead for the game.
The special PlayStation event dedicated to Borderlands 4 unveiled a sneak peek at what this upcoming game has in store. During the State of Play, captivating gameplay clips were presented, as well as the introduction of the characters known as Vault Hunters for Borderlands 4. Furthermore, several significant details about the game were disclosed, including the identities of the primary eight weapon manufacturers in Borderlands 4. However, some beloved weapons manufacturers from previous games are not included in this lineup.
In the world of Borderlands 4, there are several weapon manufacturers, namely Order, Ripper, Daedalus, Tediore, Maliwan, Jakobs, Vladof, and Torgue. According to PlayStation, weapons from Order fire high-powered bursts, Rippers can be charged for fully automatic firing, Daedalus weapons offer multiple ammo types, Tediore weapons can be thrown like grenades to reload, Maliwan weapons excel in inflicting elemental damage, Jakobs weapons have a ricochet effect, Vladof weapons boast high rates of fire and large magazines, and Torgue weapons are known for their explosive rounds and sticky projectiles. Notably absent from the roster are familiar weapon manufacturers such as Atlas, COV, Dahl, and Hyperion, which were present in earlier Borderlands games.

Borderlands 4 enthusiasts have shown a variety of responses regarding the absence of certain weapon manufacturers. Some fans are disappointed that familiar names like Dahl aren’t present in the game, but others appear untroubled. Fans have noted a new Licensed Parts system in the game, which allows players to combine abilities from various weapon manufacturers into a single weapon. A Hyperion-issued shield was spotted in recent trailers, even though Hyperion isn’t one of the main manufacturers in the new game. This suggests that other missing weapon manufacturers could potentially make an appearance in Borderlands 4, although this hasn’t been confirmed yet.
It turns out that fans of Borderlands won’t have to wait as long as previously expected for the new game – Borderlands 4 has moved its release date from September 23 to September 12. Randy Pitchford, from Gearbox, denies that this change is related to the upcoming release of GTA 6. It’s important to note that this new release date only applies to the PC, PS5, and Xbox versions of the game. As for the Switch version, it’s unclear if it will be available on September 12 or not, as that detail has yet to be confirmed.
