Borderlands 4 Nintendo Switch 2 Development Paused by Take-Two

Plans to bring Borderlands 4 to the Nintendo Switch 2 are currently on pause.

Take-Two Interactive has put development of Borderlands 4 for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 on hold, according to their earnings report released on February 3rd.

A representative confirmed to Variety that putting Borderlands 4 on the next Nintendo Switch on hold was a tough call. They stressed that they’re still dedicated to supporting games with new content after release and continuing their partnership with Nintendo on future projects for the system.

“We’re continuing to collaborate closely with our friends at Nintendo. We have ‘PGA Tour 2K25’ coming out and ‘WWE 2K26’ [for Switch 2], and we’re incredibly excited about bringing more of our titles to that platform in the future,” said spokesperson Alan Lewis.

Borderlands 4 Content Coming in 2026

Gearbox has revealed plans for Borderlands 4, with new content arriving in 2026. Throughout the rest of this year, players can look forward to updates like the recently added Photo Mode, story expansions, and additional packs. You can find a detailed schedule of these updates on the official Roadmap.
