A player in *Borderlands 4* mistakenly threw their powerful, legendary weapon off a cliff while trying to pick up a new one. It happened because their backpack was already full – a common issue in *Borderlands 4* where players quickly collect so many guns they need to return to a vending machine to make space.
The *Borderlands* games are known for having tons of guns and gear, including shields, class mods, and grenades. Players often fill up their inventories quickly, especially when starting out, and have to use in-game money to get a bigger backpack in *Borderlands 4*. Recently, a player named Frost-Folk shared on Reddit that they tried to open a chest full of weapons without realizing their backpack was already full.
Borderlands 4 Player Tosses A Legendary Weapon Into The Void By Accident
Frost-Folk was trying to jokingly give another player some advice when they captured a funny moment on video and shared it online. While opening a chest, they found a Rare SMG they wanted to equip instead of the one they already had. But the game, *Borderlands 4*, wouldn’t let them pick it up because their backpack was full, only offering the option to swap weapons instead.
After defeating the enemy, the player switches from their powerful SMG to a rarer weapon. Instead of just falling to the ground, the SMG is thrown off the cliff behind the chest. Because the player intentionally threw it, the game doesn’t recognize it as lost. While Borderlands 4 does have a system for recovering dropped items, it only works on loot that’s accidentally left behind – not gear intentionally discarded by players. Therefore, the legendary SMG is permanently lost.
Although the recent situation is disappointing, there’s good news for Borderlands fans: Borderlands 4 will have plenty of guns to find. Plus, Randy Pitchford just released new Golden Keys that are good until September 16th. These keys let players unlock random loot by using SHiFT Codes either in the game or on the official website, and there’s even a chance to get some rare, legendary items.
