Getting random items is central to Borderlands 4, and the series has always included ways to get them through games of chance, like slot machines in past titles. While slot machines aren’t in Borderlands 4 this time around, a side quest offers a similar experience for players who enjoy that kind of gameplay.
In *Borderlands 4*, you’ll stumble upon a quick side quest called PowerDrop. This quest introduces a new way to gamble for rewards – you can win weapons and money! It’s not as elaborate as the slot machines longtime *Borderlands* players know and love, but it’s a fun addition. Here’s a guide to finishing the PowerDrop quest in *Borderlands 4*.
How to Win PowerDrop in Borderlands 4
You can find the Powerdrop quest at The Launchpad, the main base for the Outbounders in the Fadefields. To begin, go to the basement and talk to Monty.
PowerDrop is easy to play! You buy a power core for $500 and drop it into the PowerDrop machine. The core bounces down a series of pegs, and the prize you win depends on where it finally lands.

PowerDrop offers small rewards like cash, but the real prize is a red chest filled with weapons and gear. You can only unlock it if a special power core lands in the center slot. Don’t worry, you can keep trying as much as you want! Each power core costs just $500, so it’s an easy expense for Vault Hunters with plenty of money.
You can only open the special chest once, as the PowerDrop reward isn’t repeatable. This chest gives you cash, Eridium, and experience points, and it’s the primary reward for completing the PowerDrop mission. It’s a high-quality chest with no limitations, meaning you have a chance to find legendary and other powerful items. However, there’s also a chance you’ll only get common or uncommon gear.
Players hoping for a new, repeatable way to earn loot like the PowerDrop are currently out of luck – it’s the only option available in the Kairos area. Until more options appear, you can still try repeatedly playing to get the rarest and most powerful weapons in Borderlands 4.
