Borderlands 4 Releases a New Update, But There’s a Catch

Gearbox Software has released a new update for Borderlands 4, primarily addressing performance issues on PCs. After a long wait, Borderlands 4 is now available, offering players new features and gameplay improvements.

Although *Borderlands 4* initially launched successfully, PC players have quickly encountered several problems. Since its release on September 12th, reports have surfaced regarding technical issues and poor performance, including stuttering and lower-than-expected framerates. Players have speculated about the cause, with some blaming the game’s engine (Unreal Engine 4) and others pointing to the Denuvo anti-tamper software.

Borderlands 4 Releases PC-Specific Update

Gearbox has been consistently working to fix problems with the game’s launch, first with an update released on day one for *Borderlands 4*, and now with a new patch specifically for PC. This patch focuses on improving stability on many different types of computers. While details about the changes are limited-suggesting it might be a quiet, behind-the-scenes update-PC players should still check their game settings to ensure everything is up to date.

This update is currently only for players on PC; PlayStation and Xbox users don’t need to download anything. Keep in mind that changing your graphics settings might cause the game to recompile shaders, which can take up to 15 minutes. Gearbox has also released guides to help players with NVIDIA and AMD graphics cards optimize their settings and reduce potential issues, especially for those playing on Steam.

Players have been consistently requesting an update on the field of view (FOV) slider option, which is currently being developed. While the setting is already available for PC users, fans playing Borderlands 4 on consoles also want the feature. This feedback reached Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford, who surveyed the community. The results showed strong support, with 72.7% of players wanting the FOV slider and another 19.2% considering it a helpful, though not essential, addition. It seems Gearbox is now prioritizing this feature based on the community’s response.
