Players of Borderlands 4 will have new content to enjoy starting October 23rd with the launch of the first seasonal event, Horrors of Kairos, which includes lots of rewards. The game will also get its first ‘Invincible Boss,’ the Bloomreaper – a plant-based enemy – in a free update expected in December.
Even though *Borderlands 4* had a rocky start, the developers have been consistently releasing updates to fix performance problems and bugs that players have been experiencing. These updates also include changes to how the game is balanced, adjusting the power of different skills and character builds. While some builds will become more effective, others—particularly those considered overpowered—are being toned down. A patch arriving on October 16th will significantly reduce the effectiveness of some popular strategies, including a highly publicized, damage-boosting build for the character Vex.
Borderlands 4 Players Will Have Free and Paid Content Through the Rest of 2025
Even with a recent update, *Borderlands 4* players have more free content coming soon! Starting October 23rd, the Horrors of Kairos seasonal event will be available to everyone. This event runs until November 6th and gives players a chance to earn a new Murmur Legendary Assault Rifle and Skully Legendary Grenade by defeating world bosses. During the event, all world boss fights will be accompanied by eerie blood rain. Gearbox will also be releasing SHiFT codes during Horrors of Kairos to unlock special Pumpkin Head cosmetics for all Vault Hunters, plus a Hex Appeal weapon skin that can be used on any weapon.
Gearbox has told *Borderlands 4* players to keep an eye on their social media for SHiFT codes coming soon. They also shared a detailed plan for the game’s content through early 2026. The first paid downloadable content (DLC) pack, called ‘How Rush Saved Mercenary Day,’ will be available on November 20th. Players can buy this pack separately, or it’s included with the Deluxe and Super Deluxe versions of the game. In December, a free update will add Bloomreaper, the first ‘Invincible Boss,’ along with new powerful weapons and a higher difficulty level for experienced players.
More content for *Borderlands 4*, featuring the new Vault Hunter C4SH and the second Bounty Pack, is coming in early 2026. Players can look forward to tons of new content and many bosses to defeat in the coming weeks.
