Players of Borderlands 4 have a limited time – until December 16th – to get three Golden Keys using a new SHiFT code. But don’t worry if you miss it, as there are other free items currently available in the game.
Since the popular release of Borderlands 4 in September 2025, Gearbox Software has consistently given away Golden Keys and other free items to players. Currently, over a dozen SHiFT codes are active, providing fans with a variety of digital rewards.
New SHiFT Code Rewards 3 Borderlands 4 Golden Keys Across 4 Platforms
Randy Pitchford, co-founder and CEO of Gearbox, has released a new SHiFT code: BZRB3-W65HT-CFJBC-B3JT3-K36XR. This code gives players three Golden Keys for Borderlands 4. You need to redeem it by December 16th on the Gearbox website. Just log in to your SHiFT account, go to the Rewards section, and enter the code.

The SHiFT code can be redeemed multiple times; once per supported platform.
Like most Gearbox promotions, the recent Borderlands 4 SHiFT code can only be used once on each gaming platform. Since your progress in the game is linked to each store you use (like Steam, PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, and the Epic Games Store), you can redeem the code up to four times total. The SHiFT system doesn’t keep track of which platforms you’ve already used, so it will always show all four options. If you select a platform where you’ve already redeemed the code, you’ll get an error message. If it’s a new platform, the redemption will be successful.
Most SHiFT codes, including the latest one, can only be used for a limited time, but this only affects redeeming the code itself. Once you get Golden Keys, you can save them for as long as you like. Using the December 2025 code gives you three keys, which you can use to open Golden Chests in the game’s hub areas. Players disagree on when it’s best to use these keys, but many suggest spending a few early in the game if you’re not getting good loot in Borderlands 4.

Once you’ve dealt with the random luck at the beginning of the game, it’s a good idea to hold onto your Golden Keys for later on. The loot you get from Golden Chests gets better as your character levels up, so early rewards quickly become useless. Currently, Borderlands 4 lets you reach level 50, and Gearbox has said they’ll raise that limit with future downloadable content, just like they have in past Borderlands games. Using Golden Keys during the middle of the game isn’t a waste, but it’s often unnecessary. By the time you have a strong character build, you’ll likely be getting plenty of loot naturally, giving you more chances to find items that perfectly complement your setup and help you improve. Saving Golden Keys is especially helpful if you plan to play through the game again.
Although we don’t know yet when Borderlands 4 will increase its level cap, the next update planned is Bounty Pack 2, expected in early 2026. This update will add new powerful gear, missions, a boss enemy, a new vehicle, and other exciting content.
