Man, it feels like forever since Borderlands 3 came out back in 2019! Everyone’s been so hyped for Borderlands 4, and when 2025 finally arrived, we got a new game! But honestly, it’s been a bit of a mixed bag – some people are loving it, while others aren’t so sure. It’s definitely sparked a lot of debate among fans like me.
Borderlands 4 is a strong game with a compelling story, better humor, and a variety of playable characters. The gameplay is a noticeable step up from previous installments. However, after finishing the main story, the game feels a bit empty due to a lack of additional content to keep players engaged.
Borderlands 4’s Endgame Content Leaves Plenty to Be Desired, At Least for Now
It’s only been a little over a month since Borderlands 4 launched, so it’s hard to fully evaluate its long-term content right now – things could change a lot over the next year. Fortunately, Gearbox has already announced plans for new content, and some of it is expected to arrive before the end of the year. They even shared a post-launch roadmap before the game came out, so we know more is on the way. There’s one thing, however, that could really improve the endgame experience in the near future.
Until more content is added, improving World Events would make a huge difference. Right now, they happen randomly, which is frustrating. It would be much better if players could start these events whenever they wanted. Getting to participate feels too much like luck, and that takes away from the fun. Hopefully, a future update can address this, but there are currently no plans to change how World Events work.
Borderlands 4 features three main world events: Order Airship, The Goredello Event, and Creep Impact.

Borderlands 4’s Post-Launch Content is Beginning to Kick Off
- Horrors of Kairos runs from October 23 to November 6.
- Bounty Pack 1: How Rush Saved Mercenary Day arrives on November 20.
- The first Invincible Boss, Bloomreaper the Invincible, is due to appear sometime in December.
- Story Pack 1: Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned arrives early 2026.
While the main game’s final challenges have been completed for now, there’s still a good amount of new content coming soon. The recent Horrors of Kairos event wasn’t perfect, but the upcoming Bounty Packs and the first Story Pack offer some exciting possibilities.
It’s possible the new content might fall short of expectations, like the ‘Horrors of Kairos’ did, but I’m optimistic about where the game is headed. The first bounty pack, ‘How Rush Saved Mercenary Day,’ includes new character skins, and the upcoming story pack could be a major improvement.
Story Pack 1, ‘Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned,’ introduces C4SH as a new playable character. C4SH is a former casino robot who now wanders the wasteland.
Borderlands 4’s First Year Hopfully Sticks the Landing
Following the success of ongoing support for games like Borderlands 2 and Borderlands 3, fans are hoping Borderlands 4 continues that trend with plenty of post-launch content. While the initial plans for the first few months look promising, the real test will be maintaining that excitement over the long term.
The original Borderlands really took off because the developers kept adding new things to do after the game was released. This post-launch support, offering extra endgame content, is a big reason the series became so popular and kept players coming back for more. Having a compelling endgame is crucial for a game’s long-term success, and it remains to be seen if Borderlands 4 can keep players hooked for years to come.
Borderlands 4 is a strong entry in the series, with noticeably improved gameplay that really stands out.
Okay, so Borderlands 4 doesn’t have a ton to do after you finish the story right now, but honestly, it’s still a really good game! I’m really invested in the characters and the story is awesome. I’m excited to see how Gearbox expands the world with new updates. It’s still super new, so there’s plenty of time for them to add more stuff and make it even better. If you’ve finished the main story, you might be feeling a little empty right now, but the good news is Gearbox is already hinting at what’s coming next!
