This article contains spoilers from Boruto: Two Blue Vortex.
Compared to the first part of Boruto, the challenges in Two Blue Vortex are far more serious. Powerful enemies like Jura and the God Trees have emerged, and Sasuke Uchiha and Naruto Uzumaki are currently unaccounted for. As a result, other characters are stepping up and taking on more responsibility, allowing them to grow and develop their abilities.
Many characters in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex have grown significantly, becoming much more powerful, taking on greater responsibility, and developing new abilities. This growth surpasses anything fans saw in the original Boruto series. Here’s a look at the characters who’ve improved the most in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex.
Sumire Kakei
Sumire Is More Than Just a Love Interest
Sumire Kakei began as a research assistant with a hidden affection for Boruto in the manga. The anime featured her prominently in the Academy Entrance Arc, where she used the Nue to attack Konoha. However, she faded into the background and didn’t play a significant role in later conflicts, unlike characters like Sarada, Mitsuki, and Kawaki.
In the current storyline of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, Sumire has matured a lot. She’s one of the few characters not affected by Eida’s all-powerful ability, and her feelings for Boruto motivate her to become more involved in protecting Konoha. She’s actively trying to understand what Amado and Kawaki are planning, and she’s even been helping Sarada grow as a ninja. Recently, Boruto showed how much he trusts her by giving her Sasuke’s sword.
Konohamaru
Konohamaru Is More Proactive in Village Affairs
Despite sometimes helping out and mentoring the new Team 7, many fans are still let down by Konohamaru Sarutobi in Boruto. Most Naruto fans expected him to become a powerful character – someone who would fight impressive battles and prove himself as the grandson of Hiruzen Sarutobi and a worthy rival and successor to Naruto Uzumaki.
Despite some mistakes during the mission in the Land of Wind, Konohamaru has clearly gotten stronger in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex. He demonstrated his improved skills by cleverly outmaneuvering a Shinju Clone and successfully battling Matsuri, highlighted by his powerful new double giant Rasengan. His importance to the story will likely increase, depending on whether he chooses to support Shikamaru and Boruto.
Inojin Yamanaka
Inojin Receives a Major Power-Up
Inoji Yamanaka is a character in the Boruto manga who doesn’t get much focus. He appears occasionally when the story needs him, but he generally doesn’t play a significant role in the main plot.
It’s great to see Boruto: Two Blue Vortex finally giving Inojin a chance to stand out. After being ignored for a while, he’s the first of the younger ninja to get a real focus on his character and growth.
Inojin is fiercely protective of Himawari, particularly from threats like Jura and the Shinju Clones. He’s also improved his Mind Body Technique to better defend against Shinju Mamushi’s power to split into multiple bodies.
Eida
Eida’s Relationship With Other Characters Improved
Image from Manga Plus Eida has changed a lot since we first met her in Boruto. Before, she was really focused on finding love, and she would try too hard to get Kawaki’s attention. She also wasn’t very nice to Boruto, dismissing him as just a kid with special powers.
Eida has changed a lot, particularly in how she relates to people. Even though she knows what Sumire and Sarada are really up to, she’s chosen to stay friends with them. She’s also become fond of Boruto, which shows she’s capable of caring for others and building relationships, not just thinking about herself. Interestingly, she’s been paying less attention to Kawaki lately, focusing on others instead.
Shikamaru
Shikamaru Replaces Naruto and Leads Konoha
Without Shikamaru’s leadership, Konoha would have been in a dire situation after Naruto was trapped in the Daikokuten Dimension. Acting as Hokage in the meantime, he took full responsibility for the village, organizing its defenses, overseeing missions, and making tough calls that no one else – not even Naruto – could have made.
While Naruto was away, Shikamaru took charge of protecting the village. He planned strategies to deal with threats like Code, Jura, the Shinju Clones, and even Boruto. Despite the lingering effects of Omnipotence, Shikamaru remained thoughtful and relied on his intuition to carefully assess each situation.
Kashin Koji
Kashin Koji Becomes Boruto’s Partner
After Sasuke disappeared, Kashin Koji showed up and began working with Boruto Uzumaki, not as a teacher, but as a fellow operative. Boruto would have had a much harder time improving his abilities without Koji, whose special power, Ten Directions, allowed him to quickly learn and master powerful new techniques.
Kashin Koji used to work with Kara and initially had no interest in training Boruto. His only focus was defeating Jigen, but that was in the past. After unlocking his special abilities, he shifted his attention to helping Boruto grow stronger, providing him with information about what was to come. He’s even started assisting Konoha, because for the time being, they share a common enemy: Jura and the Shinju Clones.
Himawari Uzumaki
Himawari Picks Up Shinobi Skills
Image by Rei Penber/ Game Rant Himawari Uzumaki has become a standout character in Boruto, significantly growing in both importance and strength. Initially, she was primarily a charming, minor character whose role was mostly limited to fun interactions with Boruto and their family.
After the tragic events involving her parents and brother, Himawari has grown up quickly. She’s becoming a powerful fighter, and will soon face dangerous battles against the Shinju Clones. With the powerful spirit Kurama assisting her, she possesses incredible energy and strength, making her a major force in any fight.
Kawaki Uzumaki
Amado Removes Kawaki’s Limiters
Kawaki Uzumaki has changed a lot in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex. He’s still haunted by his past with Isshiki and Kara, but he’s now taking control of his own life. He makes his own decisions based on his own sense of right and wrong, and is determined to follow his own path. He’s determined not to be controlled or manipulated by anyone, even though he’s still fiercely dedicated to protecting Naruto Uzumaki.
After Amado changed his battle settings, Kawaki Uzumaki’s power-ups are now fully unleashed. He’s significantly stronger than before, as demonstrated in his fight against Jura in the Land of the Wind, where he easily defeated him with his unrestricted abilities.
Sarada Uchiha
Sarada Accepts Her Real Feelings
Sarada Uchiha has faced many challenges that pushed her emotionally, ultimately helping her grow as a person. In Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, she unexpectedly opened up about her internal difficulties, which is a strong sign of how much her character has evolved.
Sarada is a character who typically keeps her feelings hidden, so it’s really notable to see her becoming more open, especially when it comes to Boruto. This growth isn’t just about her getting stronger; she’s also becoming more emotionally resilient and better equipped to handle difficulties in all aspects of her life, not just in fights.
Boruto Uzumaki
Boruto Is Stronger Than Naruto and Sasuke
Honestly, I’ve been so impressed with Boruto’s growth! He’s changed so much – it’s not just about becoming more mature, but his skills have skyrocketed too. After the time skip, he seriously reminded me of a young Sasuke, but with a much more down-to-earth and likable personality. It’s been amazing to watch him develop!
The Boruto many fans disliked is gone, replaced by a much more capable and experienced ninja who confidently faces powerful enemies. Even with this significant growth, Boruto is still determined to rebuild his family’s reputation, no matter the personal cost.
Currently, Boruto surpasses Naruto in strength, considering all the power he’s gained both before and after the time skip.
