Boruto: 7 Characters Who Fought Boruto And Should Have Won

The Boruto series consistently features exciting and challenging fights for Boruto Uzumaki. These battles are a great way to demonstrate his increasing power, push his abilities, and highlight how much he’s developed as a ninja compared to others in the series, both new and established characters.

Boruto consistently demonstrates he deserves the Uzumaki legacy with each win. However, in some fights, his opponents should have realistically won. Without resorting to tricks, the power of Momoshiki taking over, or help from his friends, Boruto would have likely lost those battles.

Momoshiki Otsutsuki

  • Momoshiki Otsutsuki came to Earth wanting to grow a special tree, the God Tree, and then steal its powerful energy. However, Naruto and Sasuke quickly stopped him. Things went even worse for Momoshiki when he was defeated and killed by Boruto Uzumaki, who was still a young, inexperienced ninja at the time.

Boruto wouldn’t have been able to defeat Momoshiki without help from Naruto and Sasuke. Momoshiki was a powerful Otsutsuki with godlike abilities, easily capable of overwhelming Boruto. Naruto and Sasuke significantly weakened Momoshiki, making it possible for Boruto to win – otherwise, Boruto simply didn’t have the strength to defeat him.

Kashin Koji

Kashin Koji and Boruto Uzumaki are currently working together, but they didn’t get along at first. Kashin Koji used to be a high-ranking member of the Kara organization, which caused a lot of tension and mistrust between them. They even fought, and Kashin Koji specifically targeted Konohamaru Sarutobi and the rest of Team 7.

Kashin Koji stopped the fight when he saw how strong Boruto’s karma was. Boruto was able to absorb Koji’s fire attacks and even break free from his restraints, which shocked Koji. However, if Koji had fought with everything he had, he could have easily defeated Boruto and his friends using his Sage Mode and the powerful toad techniques he learned from Jiraiya.

Shojoji

Early in the Boruto series, Boruto Uzumaki had a difficult battle against Shojoji, the leader of the Mujina bandits, who had kidnapped the Fire Daimyo’s son, Tento Madaka. Although Boruto showed bravery and made quick decisions when facing Shojoji’s powerful Corpse Clone Technique, Shojoji was the stronger opponent and should have won.

Boruto was able to capture Shojoji thanks to Tento distracting him, creating an opportunity for Boruto to strike with a Rasengan. Although the Rasengan wasn’t enough to win, Boruto’s teammates, Mizuki and Sarada, quickly stepped in to help. Their combined effort ultimately defeated Shojoji, and without their teamwork, Boruto might have been overwhelmed.

Shikadai Nara

Shikadai Nara, much like his father Shikamaru, is a naturally gifted ninja who prefers to take things easy. He generally needs a good reason or a clear advantage to get motivated. That’s why he wasn’t eager to join the Chunin Exams at first – he didn’t think he was ready to compete at that level.

Shikadai eventually found his footing and was even able to defeat Boruto Uzumaki in the second round of the Chunin Exams. Using his Nara clan’s shadow techniques, he successfully trapped Boruto, completely stopping him. However, Boruto escaped using a special shinobi gauntlet given to him by Katasuke. Without the gauntlet, Shikadai would have likely won the fight, as shown in the anime.

Yurui

Yurui, a ninja from the Hidden Cloud Village, competed in the Chunin Exams during the Boruto series, specifically during the fight against Momoshiki. He’s a skilled swordsman and uses exploding bubble gum as part of his fighting style. Despite not appearing particularly strong, Yurui managed to defeat Team 15 – Sumire, Wasabi, and Namida – with his unusual techniques.

Yurui also had a very impressive victory against Boruto Uzumaki in the third round of the exams. He attacked Boruto with numerous exploding bubbles, pushing him to the point where he had to cheat by using the shinobi gauntlet once more. Ultimately, this meant Yurui didn’t receive the deserved recognition for his win in the Chunin Exams.

Shinki

I remember watching the Chunin Exams and feeling really bad for Shinki. He was a Sand Village ninja with so much determination to impress the Kazekage, and he truly deserved a win. In the anime, he absolutely crushed his opponents – Denki, Iwabee, Metal Lee, Chocho, and even Mitsuki! But unfortunately, all that hard work ultimately went to waste when Boruto ended up taking the victory. It was a tough break for him.

During the last round of the Chunin Exams, Shinki defeated Sarada Uchiha and nearly overcame Boruto Uzumaki with his Iron Sand. He almost won, but Boruto used his special shinobi gauntlet to win unfairly. Without the gauntlet, Shinki likely would have been the ultimate victor.

Code

Before becoming a letdown in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, Code was incredibly powerful – strong enough to defeat both Boruto and Kawaki once Amado removed his restrictions. He had surpassed even Jigen in strength, and his unique ability, Claw Marks, let him easily surprise and attack his enemies.

Code was easily defeated by Boruto when Boruto was taken over by Momoshiki Otsutsuki, who greatly increased his power. Instead of finishing Boruto off, Code had to withdraw because he was losing the fight.
