Boruto: Every Character Immune to Omnipotence

Boruto: Every Character Immune to Omnipotence

Key Takeaways

  • Boruto: Two Blue Vortex introduces shinjutsu, including Omnipotence, capable of memory alteration and world creation.
  • Daemon, with blood relation to Eida, and Kawaki, possessing Otsutsuki genes, are immune to Omnipotence.
  • Sarada’s immunity to Omnipotence remains a mystery, potentially due to Eida’s subconscious desires or unconfirmed reasons.

As a die-hard Narutoverse fan with over two decades of immersion under my belt, I must say that the recent developments in Boruto: Next Generations have truly left me scratching my head. Characters like Sarada Uzumaki and Sumire Kakei, who seemingly lack any direct connection to the Otsutsuki or their powers, are mysteriously immune to the effects of Omnipotence.

In the continuation of the Naruto franchise titled “Boruto: Naruto Next Generations,” the boundaries of power have already been pushed to new heights with the arrival of fresh Otsutsuki members and an array of incredibly potent abilities. Taking it a step further, the spin-off manga Boruto: Two Blue Vortex has ratcheted up the intensity even more by introducing a novel class of god-like skills known as shinjutsu. The most formidable among these is Omnipotence, a skill that allows users to manipulate memories and construct entire worlds according to their will.

At first, I thought Eida’s passive ability was just enchanting or bewitching, but it turned out to be something far more terrifying. Now, the entire world is grappling with its effects, and surprisingly, a select group of characters have managed to resist its omnipotent grasp. Some are immune due to obvious reasons, while others have somehow defied its memory manipulation in mysterious ways. The exact number of these immune individuals remains uncertain, but for now, only a chosen few are confirmed to be safe from Omnipotence in the world of Boruto.

Daemon

Immune to Omnipotence Due to Blood Relation to Eida

Boruto: Every Character Immune to Omnipotence
First Appearance Boruto, Episode 289 “Qualifications”
Debut Date February 26, 2023

Except for members of the Otsutsuki Clan and those with Otsutsuki DNA, only the caster’s immediate family members are exempt from the memory manipulation abilities of Omnipotence. Since Daemon is Eida’s brother, he was naturally immune to Omnipotence’s powers, whether it was Eida’s initial charm or the widespread memory alterations that occurred later on.

There are two types of hearts my ability can’t steal. One is blood relatives.

So far, Daemon’s involvement in the story has been limited, but it’s clear he will become pivotal in the future. With his unique ability to deflect all attacks and an immunity to Eida’s omnipotence, Daemon holds significant power that could shape the course of events.

Kawaki

Unaffected Due to Possessing Otsutsuki Genetics

First Appearance Boruto, Epiosde 1 “Boruto Uzumaki!!”
Debut Date April 05, 2017

Except for blood relatives, only the Otsutsuki or those who have gone through the process of Otsutsukification marked by a Karma symbol possess immunity to omnipotence. Given that Kawaki’s Karma has predominantly replaced his genetic makeup with Isshiki’s genes, he can be considered a full-fledged Otsutsuki individual, retaining his own spirit. Consequently, Kawaki is completely immune to any bewitchment or memory manipulation that Eida’s technique might produce.

And the other is… Otsutsuki.

Given that Eida’s omnipotence only responds to Kawaki’s wishes, it seems plausible that the technique wouldn’t have harmed him initially. However, Kawaki’s Otsutsuki genetics provide an inherent shield against any impact of this all-encompassing power.

Boruto Uzumaki

Immune to Omnipotence Because Of Otsutsuki Genetics

First Appearance Boruto, Epiosde 1 “Boruto Uzumaki!!”
Debut Date April 05, 2017

In a way that resembles Kawaki’s situation, Boruto’s genetic makeup has been entirely supplanted by Momoshiki’s Karma. When Momoshiki gave up his life to use the residual Karma to mend Boruto’s body, his spirit was unable to regain control over the host’s body.

After the danger of full Otsutsukification has been averted, Boruto possesses an Otsutsuki body with unaltered Karma abilities. Keeping his Otsutsuki genetic makeup, Boruto is now resistant to Eida’s shinjutsu, placing him among the select few characters in the entire Boruto series who have achieved this immunity.

Sarada Uchiha

Possibly Unaffected Due to Eida’s Desires Or Her Own Kekkei Genkai

Boruto: Every Character Immune to Omnipotence
First Appearance Boruto, Epiosde 1 “Boruto Uzumaki!!”
Debut Date April 05, 2017

As a gamer, I’ve been following the Naruto universe closely, and there’s one thing about Sarada that has always piqued my curiosity – her immunity to Omnipotence. You see, apart from the Otsutsuki members and Karma bearers, Sarada is the only character who isn’t affected by this powerful technique. The strange part is, she doesn’t fit either of the conditions that should protect a character from its effects. Until the anime “Boruto: Two Blue Vortex” reveals the real reason behind her immunity, Sarada’s invulnerability to Omnipotence remains an intriguing enigma. Some fans suggest it’s because of her Mangekyo Sharingan, but that theory doesn’t hold water since Sasuke, who also has a Mangekyo Sharingan, was still affected by the shinjutsu.

It’s possible that Sarada’s immunity to Omnipotence originates from Eida’s deep-seated wish to find genuine friends, which might have influenced Omnipotence to bypass her. Some other hypotheses also suggest reasons for Sarada’s current state, like the presence of Otsutsuki chakra within her due to inheriting Sasuke’s Six Paths Chakra. However, this theory seems improbable because it would imply that even Sasuke himself is immune to Omnipotence. Until the manga clarifies this peculiarity, Sarada’s resistance to Omnipotence will continue to be an enigma.

Sumire Kakei

Likely Immune Due to Eida’s Subconscious Desires

Boruto: Every Character Immune to Omnipotence
First Appearance Boruto, Epiosde 1 “Boruto Uzumaki!!”
Debut Date April 05, 2017

One unassuming character that has taken a somewhat integral role in the narrative is Sumire. Bearing no link to the Otsutsuki, nor to any Kekkei Genkai stemming from the clan, Sumire’s case of being immune to Omnipotence is all the more perplexing. While Sumire had an entire arc to her name in Boruto’s anime adaptation, the manga rarely expanded on her character. However, she has now become a central character in the narrative, given her status as one of the few humans in the world to be immune to Omnipotence.

It’s plausible that Sumire and Sarada share a commonality: they both seem immune to Shinjutsu because Eida, in her quest for trustworthy friends, unconsciously willed it so. Yet, another theory suggests that Sumire’s immunity to Omnipotence might be linked to her bond with Nue, a summon she received through Danzo’s research. The anime storyline delves into her background, revealing that Danzo employed Otsutsuki methods to create the curse within her. If this arc is deemed canonical, it could also explain Sumire’s unique predicament.

Boruto is available to read via Viz Media.
