This article contains spoilers from the Boruto series.
Kawaki Uzumaki is a particularly complicated character in the series Boruto. He’s had a difficult past, and his actions in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex have sparked a lot of discussion among fans. Essentially, Kawaki is distant, headstrong, and emotionally closed off, but his determination to kill Boruto to protect Naruto has alienated many longtime viewers.
Even with his difficult past, Kawaki is now one of the most powerful characters in Boruto. Thanks to his Karma and the powerful dojutsu inherited from Isshiki Otsutsuki, he’s had several incredibly impressive moments. Let’s revisit some of Kawaki’s best fights, from his battle with Garo to when he easily defeated Jura of the Shinju Clones.
Protecting Himawari and Naruto From Delta
Kawaki is incredibly dedicated to protecting Naruto, and extends that dedication to everyone Naruto cares about – with one exception, Boruto. Despite often appearing cold and aloof, he’s even willing to protect Himawari.
When Delta attacked Konoha and targeted Naruto, Kawaki stepped up to protect Naruto and his daughter, Himawari. He used his special ability to create a shield just in time, blocking Delta’s powerful attack. By saving them, Kawaki also made up for accidentally breaking Himawari’s favorite vase.
Sending Naruto and Hinata to the Daikokuten Dimension
To protect Naruto Uzumaki, Kawaki swiftly transported him and Hinata Hyuga to the Daikokuten dimension. He did this so quickly that they didn’t even have time to react, immediately removing them from the fight and sealing them away.
Kawaki doesn’t intend to free Naruto and Hinata from their seals in the near future. With Jura and the Shinju Clones around, he’s worried about putting them in danger, as even powerful ninja are currently vulnerable and being targeted.
Outsmarting Isshiki Otsutsuki
Kawaki and Isshiki Otsutsuki had a difficult past. Isshiki originally intended to use Kawaki as a host, but Naruto, Boruto, and the Leaf Village stopped him. Kawaki deeply resented Isshiki because of the terrible experiences he endured while being prepared as a vessel.
As many fans are aware, Kawaki ultimately avenged himself against Isshiki by defeating and completely destroying his spirit. He cleverly used a shadow clone technique to deceive Isshiki, making him think he was controlling the actual Kawaki at the critical moment.
Giving Code a Major Beatdown
Kawaki is fiercely protective of Naruto and won’t hesitate to stop anyone who threatens him, including Code. Code needs to get past Kawaki to reach Naruto, but Kawaki is incredibly powerful and will be a difficult opponent – far stronger than Code anticipates.
I watched as Kawaki and Code battled it out, and Kawaki really went all-out. He mixed attacks using his Dojutsu and the power of his Karma, and each one hit Code incredibly hard – it almost felt like Code was just there to absorb the punishment. And in between attacks, Kawaki delivered some seriously cold, cutting remarks, which just made his presence even more frightening. It was a pretty intense fight to witness.
Destroying Garou With Karma
The fight between Kawaki and Garou is widely considered one of the most impressive animated battles in Boruto. It was fast-paced from the beginning, with Kawaki immediately engaging Garou in combat, impressing Boruto and the rest of Team 7 with his skills. Kawaki was significantly faster than everyone else, allowing him to consistently hit Garou with powerful attacks.
The most memorable part of the battle was Kawaki’s cool, cutting remarks as he overwhelmed Garou using the power of Karma. Though he disliked relying on Isshiki’s abilities, he needed Karma to subdue Garou, ultimately piercing him with his arm and delivering a chilling glare.
Fighting Against Borushiki
I was really impressed by the fight between Kawaki, Boruto, and Momoshiki – it’s easily one of the best close-quarters battles in Boruto. Kawaki didn’t let up on Boruto, who was being controlled by Momoshiki, constantly attacking with a variety of moves. He used his dojutsu to keep Borushiki on the defensive, even absorbing their Rasengan and matching every attack they threw at him with equal force.
Kawaki didn’t let anything slip during the battle. He flawlessly blocked and countered every attack, ultimately overpowering Borushiki and almost defeating them if Naruto hadn’t stepped in.
Overwhelming Jura With His New Powers
In Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, Kawaki has become significantly more powerful due to modifications made by Amado. He’s likely stronger than Naruto now, and further enhancements could make him even more powerful later on.
Everything shifted when Kawaki made Amado unlock his full potential, configuring him to focus on attack rather than defense. Although Kawaki has demonstrated this level of power before, it still represents a significant improvement.
He demonstrated his newfound abilities against Jura in the Land of the Wind, easily overpowering him with a barrage of attacks. He even managed to immobilize Jura by pinning down the chakra rods within his eyes and destroyed a significant portion of Jura’s body, proving the sheer force of his power.
