Boruto: Kishimoto Confirms Konoha’s New Strongest Ninja

This article contains spoilers from the Boruto series.

Three years have passed in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, significantly changing the ninja world. Naruto Uzumaki, previously the village’s strongest ninja, is presumed dead, and Shikamaru has taken his place as the new leader of Konoha. A new generation of powerful ninjas is now leading the way as the era of shinobi evolves.

Three years ago, Naruto was officially reported as deceased, and to make matters worse, Sasuke is considered a traitor to the village, significantly altering the situation. Currently, Konoha’s strongest ninja is Kawaki, who possesses the immense power of Isshiki Otsutsuki’s Karma and has been enhanced by Amado.

Kawaki Is Konoha’s Strongest New Ninja

Okay, so a lot of people are asking how Kawaki ended up being Konoha’s strongest ninja, and honestly, if you’re following Boruto right now, it totally makes sense! Think about it – Naruto and Sasuke are out of the picture, and Boruto himself is seen as a traitor, basically an enemy to everyone. That leaves Shikamaru leading things, and while he’s brilliant, he’s not exactly a powerhouse fighter. So, when you put it all together, it’s not really a shock that Kawaki has risen to become the strongest – it’s almost inevitable given the current situation!

During the three-year time skip, Kawaki became incredibly powerful. He’s fully unlocked the potential of his Jougan eye, shown by its complex design, and gained all of Isshiki Otsutsuki’s battle skills. Importantly, all of his physical limits have been removed, making his attacks far more devastating. Konoha sees him as a valuable weapon, especially because of his ability to switch places with Boruto. Considering all of this, it’s clear why Kawaki is now considered Konoha’s most powerful ninja.

Kawaki Will Surpass Naruto And Sasuke

Considering how quickly Kawaki is developing, he’s on track to become even stronger than Naruto and Sasuke. While both are incredibly powerful, Kawaki has the potential to far exceed their abilities, inheriting the immense power of Isshiki. As he fully controls the Karma and benefits from the advanced, scientifically-enhanced body Amado created for him, he could even surpass the Otsutsuki clan in strength. Ultimately, all of this points to Kawaki becoming more powerful than either Naruto or Sasuke.

Kawaki Will Eventually Destroy The Shinobi Kind

Currently, the story shows Kawaki developing into a powerful ninja dedicated to defending Konoha and the world from the Otsutsuki clan. However, future events will lead him astray, as foreshadowed by the prologue of Boruto, which depicts him destroying the entire village of Konoha.

Amado, I need you to enhance my physical strength. If you really want my help with your daughter, then do it! — Kawaki

It’s become pretty obvious he wants to completely erase the era of ninjas. And to achieve that, he’s targeting Boruto Uzumaki – that’s what this final battle is all about. It’s actually quite ironic; Kawaki, who looks up to Naruto Uzumaki, is now the one trying to dismantle the ninja world Naruto spent so long building and protecting. I’m hoping we’ll get a clearer picture of why Kawaki is doing this as the story unfolds.
